Retirement plans recommendations for truckers?

Have y’all seen that billboard that says, your in-laws are not your retirement plan.. lmbo!!!

 

I plan to die before i retire.

 

I knew a couple of hard charging, heavy drinking, partying sailors one time. Their wives kicked them out, so they bought a used houseboat and tied up on a river in Florida. Living the good life fishing and doing whatever they want; very relaxing life.

 

.....or vice versa

 

Start investing in rental properties. Start with duplex, tri or quad. Live in one unit rent the others. Let the renters pay the mortgage.
Pay that unit off and buy another.
Stock market purchase, should be dividend paying shares.

A few years ago a driver on the forum did that. Bought a 4-plex and lived in one and rented out the other 3.

 

That was double yellow but I haven't seen him on the forum in a few years. Renters are great. They always pay on time and don't tear anything up. I'd rather deal with rattlesnakes, copperheads and freight brokers than renters lol. Good luck with that

 

I agree! Tried that at one time. Relatives are the worst renters.

 

Been reading so much lately though about renters not paying...Owning a couple units is as big of a headache as owning a couple extra trucks... Seems you need tons of rentals to off set the scum bags....
