Well, it's been a good run dodging the double brokers, 'til now. Load I tendered out in April got hit by the double brokerooni. Customer received legal demand for payment.

These guys were pretty good; excellent english, nothing that would twig, no FG reports, the whole shebang. It was the old classic line, booked with a carrier (out of Florida) who then 'gave' the load to their brokerage who then booked it for substantally higher with the actual carrier. They absconded in the middle, and I wasn't aware of the carrier until Friday.

We've reached an agreement to settle the whole thing out, and it's one where nobody is *particularly* happy (paying them more than I paid the bandits, but still less than they were promised.)

This is, of course, going to have me re-evaluating my approach to vetting carriers. But once out of several thousand loads... Could be worse, I guess.

Doesn't stop it if the "first carrier" checks OK but keeps you from paying twice.

I did a broker load a month or so back where all they gave our office was the pick up and delivery city. Once everyone agreed on the rate I had to call them from my phone, at that time they sent the pickup and delivery addresses on MacroPoint. Once at the pickup I had to call again for the pickup numbers and P/O numbers for when I got to the delivery. When they verified on MacroPoint that I was at the shipper they texted me all the numbers I needed.
A lot of hoops to jump thru but I took it as just part of business these days with all the scammers running around.

Appreciate the advice, Chris. #### situation, but at least we were able to resolve it in the least painful way.

We have about 30K in loads that we're trying to find the delivering carrier. As soon as the first carrier doesn't get that QP they quit trying. Eventually the real carrier will show up. Meantime we spend hours every day trying to track them down.

I think a simple deterrent would be for the shipping location to verify the truck and driver before loading. Lately, when I contact a broker for a load, I've been sending them a pic of my cdl, my truck showing the numbers, and the truck's plates. I do this right off the bat, so they see I'm serious AND legit.

What about an eld exempt, one truck outfit like myself out of FL? Been in business over 10 years, never delayed on either end, & haven't been inspected roadside in over 3yrs..

It's a struggle on my end to get some of y'all to even consider me..

Pic's of the truck loading & delivering with clear name & numbers on the door should suffice far as I see it..?

I'm having the same problem because I have no inspections. I circumvented that yesterday with a broker who said I needed an inspection. I sent him all the pics AND I sent him a pic of my annual inspection decal, along with the actual inspection sheet from TA. He gave me the load.
