I don't envy you brokers, everyone hates you but when something goes wrong you are on the hook. Don't think you guys make enough for the risk you take.

What are you talking about? The brokers get paid before we do. We are the ones taking the risk because we are incurring expenses by moving a load. What VARIABLE expenses are the brokers incurring? Don't say "rent" or "insurance". Those are FIXED expenses. We have fuel, tolls, ifta taxes, any breakdowns or maintenance that might occur as a result of moving a particular load...those are just off the top of my head.

Brokers don't always get paid before we do. Some of these companies have some ridiculous payment terms like net 120, possibly more.

I know back when I was flatbedding my boss had a contract hauling lumber out of the Home Depot DC down in Utah back up to the stores in Montana and that contract was 90 days to pay. He always said he didn’t mind it because when it got slow in the fall and winter all that summer Home Depot money started coming in.

I’d say any broker large or small that offers some form of quick pay probably floats carriers an insane amount of money every month.

Actually if you are on quick pay or 30 net terms and send in all of the correct paperwork you get paid before we do. And also we have a bunch a freaking idiots working in accounting who routinely pay you guys with out the right paperwork. If we dont have the right stuff we may never get paid. anything over 120 days and our customers will not pay the freight bill. I take a lot of Ls believe me.

    Maybe
But the brokers do the double and triple brokering and steal all the good money off the top before it’s ever posted on the load boards . the broker usually makes more than the trucker , for sitting in their house in front of a computer tapping on the keyboard
