If I may interrupt the “PBS Car Talk” programming for a moment… :)

so a few days back I missed the dust up with our new LTL guy. I don’t want to discuss it here but could someone DM me with what happened? I read the comment about the “paying for insurance” but not the others that have been deleted before I read them (I assume there were more) so I’m a bit out of the loop.

The only reason I ask is that I’ve been occasionally texting/talking with him about FCC and answering his questions but he’s not responding now.

No it’s none of my business the details but want to help smooth/address issues for this thread, between drivers, and help a new FCC Driver a bit, if possible.

    So ya, DM me
    please and thank you.

Grabbed my next load from Fremont to Edwardsville IL and shut down at the Fremont Yard last night. This morning when I completed my 10 I went in to fill up my ice bucket and they wanted to service the trailer that I was under. It was 10 days from due but they asked if I had time. Sure, I have a little cushion I can use. So an hour and a half later I’m actually rolling out. Still got to Edwardsville an hour early so it all worked out but just now shutting down. I’ve been cursed since that darn 2 hour flight took 5 hours… lol

So, I have a physics question for you fine folks.

So when I dropped the trailer for the shop to service, I pulled out a bit too quickly (that’s what she said) and it jacked up that leveling arm that inflates the air bags. I didn’t notice until I was underway to the local Loves to Scale.

So I scaled and my nose was sitting at 13500 and my front tires are only rated for 12000. So I’m running it through my head what I need to do if I want to get fully legal and was just baffled as my steers have only once here been over 12000. Just seemed odd.

so before I gave much serious thought to sliding the kingpin plate around, I dropped the trailer to fix that leveler arm yet again (hey look at me being Mr Trucker repairing my Truck in the Loves parking lot). And then reweighed just to see if that was the issue and it was.

so ya, all I did was inflate the air bags on the drives and that alone shifted like 1500 off the steers and moved it back to the drives. Now fully legal… Woot Woot.

But now I’m a bit bugged trying to reconcile in my bored mind why simply inflating the air bags would shift 1500 pounds from the front if the frame to the back of the frame. If anything, I think I could justify the reverse happening that inflating the bags would/could shift weight to the front but don’t ask me to prove my theory.

    so anyone have an idea?

Fords have been good to me the last 20 years, even though I've always been a Chevy man. I think staying on top of the maintenance the key. I have a 06 Ford Five Hundred, 225,000 miles and a 08 Focus, 193,000 miles. Both run strong and use no oils.

You are right about my pickup, the Duramax/Allison combo is tough to beat. My last truck before I bought this one was an '04 Duramax, had 215k. Transfer case went out, could have easily replaced it, and it would still be serving me well, but I saw all the new bells and whistles they didn't have back when I bought ol Whitey, so I used it as an excuse to buy a new one lol. Probably should've kept it, the LLY motor was pre-DEF, the L5P has done well though, got a buddy with an LML Duramax, they had a lot of gremlins, looks like they've worked out more of the DEF and emissions issues that as we know all to well happen when you start putting crap on a diesel engine that shouldn't be there.
