Any help identifying this old flatbed.....

Could also be an Alloy trailer from the 60's. The curved top edge is a hint that both Alloy and Western used in the 60's and 70's. Both were built in east WA.

Any trailer built on or after January 1, 1975 requires spring brakes on at least one axle. There still are some exceptions were they are not required on certain types. So that should narrow yours down to the 1972 year you want. Lol!
I have a 1971 38’ tandem Fruehauf that came from Westpoint Peppermill and was used for heavy textiles. Has solid steel floor and extra large landing gear on it with only one cranking speed. ( high gear) it. The tandems are on sliders which is rare for the time and funny because they will slide up 6’ on a 38’ box. Musta been a wild ride.
No spring brakes but has two tanks and two quick release valves which is un common back then. Sits on 10-22 spokes.

 

I don’t think Western or Alloy were straight across the bottom of the beam like that.

 

Trailmobile?

looks like it has hinges along the top side of the rail. Does it look like it may have folded sides?

 

My buddy and I seen it at the ATHS show couple years ago, I just couldn’t remember the name of the trailer off the top of my head. That was a good show, got to talk to Mr. Spooner again, and talk to Greg Evigan at the BJ & the Bear truck….

I missed that. Both Western and Alloy built convertible flat/grain trailers. Some were hopper bottom and some were trap door flat floor units.
Arlo G Lott Trucking out of Jerome ID (established 1971) pulled both styles through to 1995 to my knowledge. Calling them might give you some history of this trailer or at least a manufacturers name.

 

Bob bought my uncles ‘70 351 from me back in ‘03. It was an identical twin to the ‘67 in my avatar, but had a NTC 400 big cam and RTO12513. It has since been painted the Spooner Trucking yellow.
