Well so far I have 650 miles for today before I shut down. Have about 400 more miles to go before I park for the weekend and unload on Monday. I am at 10.1 MPG's so far on this load and at 9.4MPG's for the total trip. Hopefully tomorrow I do not hit any storms or wind and can keep that MPG's over 10. I noticed that if it is in the mid 70's my truck seems to love that air and moves along with little effort.

They have to be driven right.. Learned something today you're only supposed to use about 3/4's of the throttle when taking off up until it hits 7th gear then flatfoot it. That keeps it in the right torque band and allows the computer to properly control shifts but that's actually how I had always driven it. Similar to keeping an eggshell under your foot.

Well got back home and just a few miles from drop off. I got 9.6 MPG's on the trip back and ran into some good wind before I hit MO. Total trip was 9.4 MPG's so not to bad of a trip.
Constant Learner, rollin coal and ducnut Thank this. -
Well wet out on Monday from MO to TX with 15K in the box and got 9 MPG's. I had forgot that it was my Wife's birthday yesterday so I had to come right back. Could not find anything worth anything so just dead headed back and took a loss on that one. on the way back I did 10 MPG's and got total of 9.4 MPG's for the trip.
Went out last night to the casino with wife and she hit a 6K jackpot for her Birthday. She was pretty happy so would say the dead head trip back was not for a total loss at least. First time she has hit anything decent in awhile as she does not go very often.
Booked a couple loads yesterday as well. First will be from MO to OR at around 36K and will return after that with a 43K load. Might get something else but right now it is worth keeping unless I can get one of the other loads I like to do around that area.ducnut and Constant Learner Thank this. -
Not sure anyone ever really looks at this thread anymore but here is what I got on this load. Will deliver in the morning and only have 5 miles to go. Mo to OR at 40K doing 67-70 MPH. Ended up with 7.8 MPG's for the trip, may have to idle a little bit tonight since it is pretty hot out but should not change anything. I was hoping to get 8 MPG's out of this trip but ran into a little wind. Over all was not too bad of a trip and went smooth.
Next up is a trip from OR back to MO @ 42,500 LBS. Hopefully going back I might get my 8 MPG's I was hoping to get coming up. It is a little heavier so prob won't do any better but I can hope. Fuel prices seem to be going up more and more every week I have been going out. I need to get back to my lighter multi drop loads I like to do. Might look for next week and see if I can find something for Monday or Tuesday. -
Maybe some of my O/O's should.Siinman Thanks this. -

Well today I finally got some stuff done on the truck that I have been putting off. I finally got Chad at Alignment Solutions to get my alignment done and fix the issue with my Steer tires. After that I went and had new Steer tires put on and will make sure I don't kill these tires so fast. Should had got well over 200K on those but because the issue I only got 130500 on them. Kind of kicked myself for not getting this done earlier like I planned. Total cost was almost 2K all in. Ended up getting some Firestone FS591 Tires so will see how these do.
Fuel MPGs on this round was from MO to AR with 13K 9.7 MPG's two stops. Then AR to SD at 13K and got 9 MPG's with total so far at 9.1 MPG's. Had a few extra hours of idle time the last two days as well so that hurt a little bit for total. Pick up in the morning from SD to MO at 44K and will see what that does.
Also on another note I have been pulled over two times the last two nights by city cops. First one was in Clinton MO and the cop told me my plate on the trailer was too dirty and could not see it from 50 foot away. So I cleaned it off and he let me go with a warning. This was at night and I think the dude just wanted to look at my truck to be honest. He was nice at least but wasted my time for that to be honest it was not really dirty.
Second one just got pulled over an hour ago in Huron SD from local cop. He said I was doing 39 in a 35 and they had someone pulled over. I did not slow down and did not move over in the turning lane. He was a nice guy and told him I was sorry and would not happen again. I did not know you was supposed to slow down to 20 miles an hour less then speed limit but that is what he said.
Told him not a problem at all as I always try and show respect to cars pulled over on the side of road. This was in the city limits on the 4 lane road so I was forsure in the wrong. To be honest my gps was trying to send me the wrong way to the truck stop down the road so I did not think to pull to the side but I was no where close to hitting them.
He let me off with a warning and just wanted to make sure I was educated on the issue. I felt bad to be honest since I pride myself in being a professional, just glad he was not an a--hole. Funny I have never been pulled over other than the scale the whole time I have been driving a semi. Something must be in the air the last couple days!gentleroger, Constant Learner, rollin coal and 1 other person Thank this. -
The law requires one to move over. That’s it. If one is not able to safely move over, then, they must slow down. I’d have to ask to be shown the law stating move over AND reduce speed by 20mph.
I’ve lost all respect for law enforcement, given their constant harassment of trucks.Siinman, gentleroger and rollin coal Thank this.
