I love sorghum. I was raised on that stuff in Tennessee. Used to put sorghum on pancakes.
If you've never tasted sorghum on a hot buttered biscuit, you've only half lived.

Sorghum syrup-making festivals with hand-harvested sorghum cane and mule-drawn presses are held across the South from late August to mid-October. One of the largest festivals, in the beautiful mountain town of Blairsville, Georgia spans two weekends--October 9-10 and 16-17.Siinman, JoeyJunk and OLDSKOOLERnWV Thank this. -
Friend has a small farm here, we try to raise Cain and make it every couple of years.
My wife and I along with 2 other couples host the local antique tractor & engine show here every 1st Saturday in August. I have been contemplating starting another show like a “old fashioned days” so we can make sorghum, grind cornmeal, make apple butter, and a few other things. I usually take the gristmill to our show and let folks hitch their tractors to it, many ride their tractors but very few have the opportunity to work it on a belt….

About the closest festival to us is down in West Liberty, Kentucky. Small town so they even shut down the main drag for vendors. Can’t remember the name of the folks who make the sorghum though…. -

In the early 70’s my face left a dent the size of a man’s fist on the dash of a 66 Chevy truck. All metal with no padding back then.
They tried sewing what teeth they could into place to save them, so each meal was pretty much liquified mashed potatoes through a straw and soupy grits or cream of wheat for a while.
Caused me a lot of problems later on so had a bridge or partial whatever they call it made. Creamy is about all I can do, I like the chunky peanut butter, but it gives me fits unfortunately…. -
