Nope. Clay County MS Jail was run by an old black man named Joe. Court in session, daddy on the jury, me carried along to meet and get to shake hands with then Circuit Judge, John Stennis.. Later U,S. Senator John C. Stennis. Break in court, restrooms in jail, so daddy and I walk across the yard to "rest".

Finish up, come out and daddy says come with me up here.. Up here is where the cells are with steel steps going up and lots of steel walling off little rooms.
We top the stairs, and there are two kinda of rough looking white guys lounging in one of the little rooms.
Joe is coming up the stairs behind us carrying a tray. Joe and daddy chat a minute and we find these are the Thompson boys who have stole some livestock.
I look at Joes tray, 2 tin plates, a big dab of grits with some butter melting in it and 2 (two) wieners (hot dog size) not Brats. Since it was up in the day, I took it to be lunch. A more truthful statement I have never made... "That experience is what I credit to me never having been incarcerated, anywhere for anything."
