Hello all, currently in Mankato MN at Walmart DC offloading. Tomorrow morning I have a reload in Harris IA picking up fresh eggs, and I messaged my boss about how can I put ag exempt mode on the ELD as I can't find it on the tablet. Boss told me to run it legal per company policy and that supposedly fresh eggs aren't exempt, but I could've sworn I seen it as exempt on a AG commodity list I have downloaded on my phone. Can anyone confirm this? I used to pick up produce often and always use the ag exemption on those until I exited the 150 air mile radius. Now this guy is having me doubt things. We are a for hire carrier, and this load is going from Harris IA to El Paso TX.
Picking up fresh eggs tomorrow... Ag exempt?

If your boss told you to run it as per company policy -- why even bother with something else?
Don't get any egg on your face....

Eggs are not exempt.. probably neither was the produce you ran exempt on ..
Just run it normal .. its not like the eggs are gona hatch before you get to El pasoLast edited by a moderator: Sep 1, 2023

According to this, eggs ARE exempt.
And I was able to get in touch with IA DOT. The officer confirmed it is in fact exempt, so I'll be able to use AG exemption after all for the 150 air mile radius.Attached Files:

An ag exemption (in this case) is nothing to get egg-cited about....
If you use the ag exemption here -- it's highly likely the yoke will be on you.
Going against the boss's earlier request will likely get you forever-tagged by your carrier as an egghead.

To use Ag Exempt on an ELD that doesnt have a specific mode for it you will need to run in PC with the followimg comment added to the PC movement: "Ag Exempt 395.1 (k)." This of course only works if your company hasnt locked out PC or limited it to very few miles. I had the ability to run up to 500 miles on PC per day specifically because we ran alot of Ag Exempt loads.
But as others have said... If the boss said run it as a normal load than thats probably your best bet in the long run.gentleroger, Accidental Trucker, Judge and 6 others Thank this. -
Given all the above incredibly bad puns -- before the Forum Fuzz shows up -- I will now egg-cuse myself ....& make a hasty egg-xit from this thread.
