Produce qualifies under AG exemption simply because of the fact that they're deemed to be an agricultural commodity, and because of the fact they're highly perishable. We all know the short shelf life they have compared to dry food products. Funny thing is. There's very few exceptions, like bananas, which are NOT AG exempt, which makes sense though, because their peel takes quite a while to deteriorate.

Let your friend know he is in fact AG exempt with the 150 air mile radius. He doesn't HAVE to use the exemption, but if it's available at his disposal, might as well.

No, the exemption mode looks to be disabled. I just logged in as PC and remarked "MAP 21 - Operating under AG Exemption"

So what exactly did you gain by running exempt? You're fuel stops and anything else electronic still have to match up exactly. Not even worth the trouble.

    bryan21384 and 201 Thank this.

BUT……. “my boss told me to run it legal per COMPANY POLICY “
And yet you still are going to do it the way you want.
I’m sure your boss will be impressed.

Because his 11 hours of drive time doesn’t start until he reaches the 150 mile radius of the loading point. Fueling and such doesn’t really matter, and doesn’t have to be logged on duty if you’re under the exemption. Just fuel like normal while you’re exempt from logging.

Ok, well if you have to log on an ELD before running that 1 exempt load and then back to the ELD afterward then what did you really gain?

You gained 150 air miles of driving that doesn’t go against your 11. Plus the 150 air miles going in to load. So if you do things right it’s pretty easy to drive and get loaded and drive a little more and take a quick nap and have your 10 off so you can start driving again. If your log doesn’t have an ag exempt tab you simply log it PC and note you’re running under the exemption.

You gain a lot if you can use it to your advantage, I don’t know how else to explain it. @Cattleman84 used to use it hauling spuds all the time, maybe he can explain it so it makes more sense.

If your company says run it on ELD you can't run ag exempt tho.
