Yea the road guys only have closed tandems, and as a matter of fact I don’t think very many road trucks are even tagged for 85,500. We actually do very little in Missouri, but yep when we are over there we load commercial zone weights. We try to just keep in Kansas tho, with our short trailers even with a pretty decent wheelbase and the 5th wheel all the way back we are juussst shy of that magical 51’ for the bridge law.

I've talked to two separate long-time contractors in my area about those 28' spreads because I'm 99.9% sure you can't bridge them for 85.5k# but everybody around here runs them. Both have told me if you're hauling road building material you are exempt from KS Bridge Law, which mimics the Federal code. I have a 26' closed tandem and run over 80k# almost daily and haven't got a second look in two years. My trailer axles are always heavy but they're rated for 45k# so it isn't an issue. I always have an asphalt ticket from APAC or a quarry ticket showing APAC as the consignee so maybe someday I'll find out firsthand, lol.

I believe he came in from All Metal in Wichita, quite the ride. One of your new recruits, said this was his first trip, I was kind enough to show him the ropes at Huron Valley, he left a few spots between him and the first truck, I kindly suggested he move to spot 2 so he didn’t end up fourth in line come the morning, that was my good deed for the day :)

I see J.B Hunt got into the hopper business. Today I passed 3 of them within about 7 miles.

Seeing Turdcadias pulling hoppers is going to take some getting used to.

I saw a Crapcadia pulling a cattle pot last night. I had to double-check myself just to make sure I wasn't seeing things, but sure enough that's what it was. smh...

Haven’t seen JB with a hopper yet I wonder what that’s all about. Schneider has end dumps running around KC on a dedicated scrap account. I give them a wide berth when dumping, i.e.; I don’t go near them. One was raising up to dump heavy melt scrap eating a sandwich and wasn’t even looking in the mirrors. Safety third!
