Yes, I have a green card and they accepted all the documents I have for residency. It says they have reciprocity but it doesn't seem like it includes cdl. They didn't make it clear on their website either.

Do you have a USA drivers license? Not CDL, just a car drivers license.
You have a Green Card, so probably just need to attend cdl school.

I have a Class 1 license (equivalent to a Texas class A Cdl) from Manitoba in Canada. I've been working with it for 5 years, most of my work was canada - US. I Brought that with me and that is what I wanted transferred, but they said they would downgrade it in Texas. I already took a course and acquired the license there, and they expect me to do it all over again here.

Fmcsa says it has reciprocity, same as the Texas DPS website. I was told to use it to operate commercial vehicles and do not have to change it. It just doesn't make any sense.

They are basically saying ... Use it if you find someone to hire you and we honor it otherwise we don't know what to do, so we will downgrade it.

I think some states also require for you to have a regular DL for a year before you can get a commercial one. Maybe TX is one of those

Have you applied to any trucking companies or cdl schools?

Yes. Companies said switch it and come back. Cdl schools said I can take the course, but that doesn't seem fair. I just wanted clarification on why it isn't possible to transfer, or if someone here have done it and the DPS workers just didn't know how it works. No clear law on it.

That's the rules now; you'll have to attend cdl school.

I don't think Texas have the law for that. They said I just need to swich my DL to regular license and get the learner permit for the CDL the next day and take the course again.
