Agreed. I think your thought of a 2 year suspension for 5 mph yes only 5 mph would constitute as cruel, and definitely unusual punishment. Maybe higher fines would stop people from speeding but you will never ever see your ideas of punishment for driving.

As far as thinking the deaths of a family of 5 falls entirely on the aggressive driver, it may hold water in a court of law. But the truth of the matter would be, you could have prevented it by not provoking the driver to begin with. I would judge you no differant, you're equally aggressive as the driver who killed the family. As witnessed by your own actions....refusal to give the lane up, because the "law" protected you. Even that might not protect you in civil court, with multiple witnesses.
By it's very definition you would be considered an aggressive driver, for refusing to give up the lane.
That's the real difference between people. An honorable and compassionate man doesn't need laws to tell him the right thing to do. While others hide behind the law, to justify their actions. -
Bull squeeze.Using the second or third lane while traveling the posted legal speed limit to avoid being cut off by cars or trucks entering or exiting an expressway means I'm an aggressive driver???
No it means I avoid lane changes lessening my chances of side swiping someone in my blind spot, save wear on my equipment by avoiding stopping for people that are convinced they drive a 42' wagon and that four wheeler that just had to beat me to the ramp I wasn't using in the first place.
People got it in their heads that speed limits are flexible. They are not they are law.The rest of those people are not their to be in your way, they are there taking care of their business. The laws are written because we must interact with each other in those spaces and need defined limits for people without the mental acuity to deem what is safe.
And the pedophile point went right over your head huh -

If everyone did what was posted traffic flow and safety would improve. I have not driven over 65 in at least 5 years, never have any problems and its a bit more relaxing. None of the trucks I drive are governed less than 70 and most are 75 to 78 so I do shower down once in a while when someone thinks I cant get around when I start.

In the UK we have calibrated speedos via our tachograph recording devices. By law they are set to 54 mph and sealed to prevent tampering. They are re calibrated every two years.
Our tacho charts record HoS our speed and the distance travelled, these are gradually being phased out by a digital version which I think is what you'll get rather than the paper chart recording system
You cant argue a speeding ticket when your actual speed is being recorded by the truck your driving and that can be used by the courts, but its rare to get a ticket here for 5 mph over. -
Luckily, you can pull out and pass a 64 mph truck. So life is good, there is no problem.
For me...it's pure HELL.
Whether it's JB, USA, or Swift. I have to watch for large units in the hammer lane. Cuz it's going to take me all day to pass.
I know....just bump it down a notch and stay behind them. What if we all did that? The line would be 400 trucks long.outerspacehillbilly Thanks this. -
TAZZ, Nothin, nobody cares if you do. Never take an Oath. It is against Biblical principles. I ran 5 over for 1.9 million miles and got stopped once in OK for 3 over on the Indian Nation going down a steep hill with 80,000 on. I ticked him off because he said, "You weere doing 3 MPH over the posted speed limit so I stopped you because you were bding unsafe. I laughed and he didnt like it.

Wrong TAZZ, You are getting the big head. VA dows not have to allow you to have a trial by jury for traffic violations. The Judge can hear your case without a jury.
