You'll be required to take drug tests; urine and/or hair follicle.
If you test positive, prepare to return to landscaping.

Thank you for all the recommendations. I think I made my decision to get my CDL in January or February and see how it goes from there

A lot of drivers will disagree but I'm one of those who likes the reefer life. You do have to get past some difficult customers, but as long as you go to an outfit that pays detention it softens the blow when you do get hung up somewhere. I prefer to run at night as much as possible...with varying appointment times you can't do nights 100% of the time, but appts are often in the wee hours which works well for night trip planning a lot of the time.

Again not everybody agrees here, but for me the reefer running behind the sleeper is like white noise. Some of the best sleep I've gotten in my life was on a navy ship (also a lot of white noise) and in a truck sleeper.

    Numb and Chinatown Thank this.

I did reefers for 18 years and liked it. Ran 48 states.

One ship I was on, I slept right under the flight deck and right under the #3 arresting cable. Every time a plane landed it sounded like a bomb going off in the berthing compartment. The F-8's were the loudest. I remember them hitting afterburner as soon as they snagged the arresting cable, in case the cable snapped, they'd have the power to get airborne again vs crashing into the ocean.

I was on big deck amphibs so it was helicopters and harriers, but after a while I could sleep through all of it. Can also remember that frequent sound of chains dragging across the flight deck.
