yes, the mpc 200 qualcom is going in all marten trucks by june of this year. I already have one. Its qualcom and elec log all in one. As for scaling the load, if its 40,000 or above i will scale it. Many times the bills have said the load was say 42,000, and it turned out to be 44,500 or so.

have been with marten going on two years. I have to say that i am still happy i came here. I have never had any problems with marten. Im getting good miles, drive a nice truck with apu and inverter, and they get me home when i want. You get a week paid vacation after one year, and two weeks after two years. You get one day off for every five days worked. If i stay out a month, i take six days off. I either bobtail home, or i take a trailer. I take hometime in nashville,tn, ontario,ca and reno,nv. Never a problem taking hometime wherever i want to go. Treat your FM with respect, and you will get it in return.( and get your loads on time)

Look, I have to agree with most of what Kabar has been saying. I left Marten recently only to pursue an opportunity that I feel is in my best interest at this time, but I am NOT leaving because I think Marten is an awful company; (and no, they didnt put anything on my DAC except leaving without notice, which the company I am going to couldn't care less about). They do come down hard on people for not doing a good job, some loads are 500 miles and two days but then you make it up. I've seen one driver after another think they can butt heads with Marten and to their utter shock and amazement, Marten butts back HARD and then the driver in question acts all offended and hurt. Most unhappy drivers I met at Marten had the silly "dispatcher works for me" mentality and that just doesn't fly at any company.
MOST of the time I got great miles there- it's true what they say about being hazmat certified and able to enter Canada; you get more miles and loads quicker than if you can't do these things. Let me sum it up in a dollar amount- I just got my taxes done and my total earnings at Marten for 2009 were 42,738 PLUS what was put in my 401K. Most college grads cant say that.
I know some people are really mad at Marten and they feel they were done wrong. Some of them may have a legitimate case and I can understand why, but its not the multi-headed dragon drivers are making it out to be. -
The problem with this forum is we have too many instances of imposters faking testimonials to rebut posts by legitimate drivers who are trying to give us all a warning or a heads up. I expect that ALL the carriers (or their recruiters) are using this strategy.
I spot you as an imposter for several reasons. First, if you were really an ex-Marten driver and you wanted to profess your affinity for Marten, you would be posting at another thread titled, "Discuss your favorite company here". But since you are posting only contradictions and invalidations on the complaint thread, this will cause us to immediately suspect that you are an imposter. So I dig a little deeper on you and what do I find?
I find that you further expose yourself as an imposter because you contradict yourself over and over. First you say, "I left Marten recently...", then later in the same sentence you say, "...but I am NOT leaving because I think Marten is an awful company...". So which is it? It can't be both.
Oh what a tangled web we weave
When first we practice to deceive.
- Sir Walter Scott (Marmion, 1808)
And that's not all. Later you say, "...they didnt put anything on my DAC except 'leaving without notice'..." which leads us to believe that you have left Marten quite some time ago if they have had to time to post your DAC and time for you to check your DAC (it always takes me nearly 3 weeks to get a copy of my DAC after I mail off my request and fee). And, if so much time has gone by since you left Marten that you finally have a copy of your DAC, then why in the world would you be joining us yesterday as new member after so much time has gone by just to post pro-Marten on the wrong thread? You have overloaded my Bull Ship' detector so badly that it is smoking and throwing sparks!
Your posts fail.

I think you should read the post a bit more carefully there duke.

You make Marten out so good, and you mention no complaints...well, then why are Marten's turnover statistics so high? Do you even know what the stats are, have you ever asked? How do you explain this?
You say, "I have never had any problems with Marten", but do you really think that there is any driver reading this forum that will believe that this is possible with any carrier that is or ever has been? Some will, because of the Elvis factor ( 7 percent of people in the US believe that Elvis is still alive), but not me. For that matter, do you think that any of us can believe that anyone has ever had a job with any employer for 2 years with no problems, even outside the trucking business? Not me. Even the Pope would have some complaints with his job over the course of 2 years, who are you trying to kid? I know white wash when I see it.

not all drivers have problems with carriers. I met a few happy martin drivers. martin might have a high turn over rate, But it does not apply to every drivers. If there happy with martin. Then good for them. At least some one is happy.

DUKE, no bull, I take hometime in three diffrent towns, and I always bobtail or take a trl with me. Two of the places are relatives . I can park right at all three locations. The only one I bobtail to has no room for the trl,so i drop it at the ontario yard. Im not saying that I dont ever have a bump in the road here at marten, Im saying that I dont have any major problems. Cant say that im thrilled with my new electronic log, or no more $100.00 mini trips, but i dont see these as big problems for me.
-
The thing about the electronic log that sucks is there is no more free ride to go on to the house for hometime . You have to have hours to go home, even if you bobtail.

I just quit marten transport and up till about a year ago I rarely heard a complaint from another marten driver and I never ever complained myself.
I was making money, had a good truck, good dispatcher and going to california at least once a month, I mean this company was awesome.
Then overnight the company changed. I no longer got good loads, I was forced to do rail loads for $12 hr and by the way the $12 hr only started at the delivery appointment time. I no longer got detention pay even after I followed all their ridiculous requirements. I would sit everywhere at least the better part of a business day for a preplan that wouldnt pick up till the next day and would only pay 300 miles loaded.
The final straw was when I was forced to give my load to a team for no reason. I had all kinds of time to make on time delivery and had fresh 14 clock so when I saw the message come across that I was required to swap with a team(they called it a swap but the team drivers had nothing for me not even an empty trailer) I was puzzled to say the least but this had happened before and I wasnt going to take it anymore so I sent the following message 'if I am required to give this load up with out compensation or without another preplan to make up for screwing me then I quit'
They then sent 'do you have enough time to make on time delivery, if so go ahead and take it rest of way'
I said 'of course I got 4 extra hrs to make on time and no problems with log book'.
I was pleased I wasnt going to have to quit and was ready to pull out of the truck stop when the qualcomm goes off.
The message read 'This is so and so from management and we value you as a driver but our hands are tied on this one so you must give up your load. I hope this does not cause you to quit'
I then sent 'I quit'
I gave the load to the team and bob tailed to the Atlanta yard and cleaned out the truck, rented a hotel and scheduled a rental car.
I hated for it to end up like this cause marten was a good company. I really can not say what the heck is going on with them.
But for newer drivers out there you could do far worse than marten.
I just had it with these otr carriers. Im gonna try and get out while im still young enough too.
