My company pays me back no questions asked, but I recently took this picture on the 19th of a truck with a warning sticker from the 1st. If it takes that long to tow a truck from the pay spots they just won't do it. You can park in the paid spots for a whole vacation and it'll be there when you get back. This was in Southington CT one of the busiest and smallest around. If they won't do it nobody will. I actually called NAPA and told them one of their trucks had been abandoned there, which was likely true. I doubt anybody else had made an effort.

Why pay for reserved parking when truck stops will let anybody park there for free!?!

Tried and true to get rid of that unpaid person taking your parking spot. Easy simple steps. Step 1, locate the US Dot number on the drivers truck. Step 2, google "safer web DOT snapshot". Step 3, click the link that shows what you just searched. Step 4, put in the DOT number and click "search". Step 5, Locate the number for the company on that screen you just got the company info on which shows address, phone, etc. Step 6, call said number and tell them you are "whoever you wanna say you are" with Pilot in "whatever town you are in" , your truck is parked in a reserved parking spot that is not available to him and he needs to move in the next 5 minutes or we will tow the truck from our parking lot. Step 7, chuckle as you see the lights come on about three minutes later and said driver moves his freeloading truck out of the way.
Suggestion: I wouldn't do this sitting right in front of or within even 70 feet of the truck you are calling on. -
Trust me, they don't have the staff to check for parking tickets.
I figured that out right around the time of the pandemic. -
They told him they do not make the non-payers leave because of security reasons.

Different strokes for different folks. The company im leased too pays for our parking. Either way after fueling so much and they pay a fuel surcharge (either way they're paying) being only $17 (same price of a shower & I average 9 weekly) I have one to pay now and then. No bug deal really.

Feisty younger gal at the TA on 95 in Connecticut stopped what she was doing at the fuel desk, marched out in the snow and told a guy to move so I could have my paid parking.
At first he wouldn't answer her knock. She persisted, and then he comes to the window and acts like he doesn't know what's going on and tried to blow her off, but she had her spreadsheet and steadfastly stood her ground as it became a war of the wills, and I'm happy to report that she won.Last edited: Oct 13, 2023
