Ok so the red thing is the plug. That's what I thought, but I didn't definitely know. I have zero experience with pulling out these plugs. I have been a company driver for my entire career. So i don't do my own repairs. And I've never been a trailer mechanic or a diesel mechanic.
P.S. the sarcastic comments like "taste what's in the hub. If it takes like chocolate, then it is an oil hub. If it takes vanilla, it is a grease hub" degrade the quality of this message board.
What do you actually check on a pre-trip inspection?

If you take the plug out and your finger gets little metal burrs stuck on if when you poke it in, that means you don’t have an oil or a grease hub, you have a burnt hub, and they taste like charcoal briquettes.
