"Drivers are a dime a dozen, #### them."

That's not verbatim, because it's been 25 years, but the K part of K&B said that in a public place, not knowing me from Adam, talking to salesmen. And there's plenty of anecdotes here and elsewhere that illustrate that attitude.

That fact they can still find drivers who want to be part of that corporate culture just proves Barnum's old adage lives on: " there's a sucker born every minute"

Embarrassing response from dispatch -- if a truck breaks down and a load is late, it's not a service failure. When the human being behind the wheel 'breaks down', so to speak, then it's suddenly a crime against the company. It definitely is a trickle down from higher ups -- that dispatcher is being pressured as much as they're pressuring the driver. The one time I've had to cancel my plans on a load for fatigue, my response from dispatch was 'no problem, we'll get you pre planned for tomorrow morning'

But to play devil's advocate, I don't think being up for 17 hours and having to drive 160 miles to a relay is some crazy feat in reefer, so there is a little truth to the 'these things happen often' from dispatch. And there is some truth to the whole fresh air thing. And maybe there is more to the story... did the driver eat a ton of carbs right before driving and plan poorly for a long day? Did they hydrate well? Of course, this is me theorizing from a normal company driver perspective and not some insane program where 2am relays are a norm lol

My actual guess is asking drivers to run 8 weeks at a time and relay all hours of the night is a great way to push someone physically and mentally to burnout. One night of good rest doesn't cancel out all the sleep debt and fatigue.

Considering it a service failure and taking away the pay guarantee is a despicable response regardless of my pointless theorizing

And I should add, this is why I believe in running out hours and getting a 34 on occasion. Sure, you can get a proper night's rest in 10 hours, but going to sleep for a 34 and not worrying about any sudden relays, no alarms, and taking a mental break works better for some drivers.

Wonder why the K&B website doesn't say anything about a flight home and 10 paid days off at the end of those 2 months of running. I just see happy numbers. Those numbers people like to claim you will make, when you actually wont, if you even take 10 days off just once.

It’s kinda loop hole in the system, dispatch and the trucking company wants drivers to run because they have hours. Telling a driver to go back to sleep for another 10 hour break after just having 10 hours off is not correct also.. When something goes wrong like an accident then everyone will say the driver should have stopped. The video basically shows you can’t really do that without getting in trouble. K&B seems to lots of overnight run and that why they pay so much and the pressure of you cannot really stop if your tired. That’s what nobody talks about, they only point out the money.

I would like to see any trucking companies advertise sitting for 20 hours then say you have to drive all night. If someone likes driving all night then K&B would be a good company to work for.

I wonder what happened to @BigSean416 ? It seems like as the questions get tougher he gets quieter.
And, just for what it's worth...usually when we get a recruiter on here who's pretending to be a driver we bounce him immediately. This time we thought it might be entertaining to listen to his rap and see how many lies and half-truths he comes up with.
I have to say, especially given the subject matter, the members have handled themselves well. No name calling, no personal insults, and no threats of violence. Good job.
Of course if the OP does turn out to be a driver who's just trying to score points with his employer I'll apologize right away.

Now since you all still seem to think I'm a recruiter I'm going to touch on the things that I don't like about K&B. The trucks are set at 64MPH and yes its true that the cruise control doesn't work when the headlights are on but I guess we can thank some sleepyhead for that. Yes dispatch will contact you during your 10 hour break sometimes but unless its something really major they usually just send a text. Yes relays during your 10 can happen but its very rare and K&B only likes to do it as a last resort. And the worst of all is that they do make you download an app that locks you out of your phone while driving. It's not exactly a deal breaker but it's not great either. But at the end of the day most these issue have been caused by a few bad apples so I'm hopeful things will change in the future.
