Each to their own I suppose, you could always downsize and use a tablet which is much easier to recharge, also most of these laptops can go for a while before they need recharging so just bring it with you for a shower at the truck stop and recharge it while you take a shower and a shave. I'm sure you'll work out something in the end.

I'll ask again what is the model/year of the laptop, most won't use more than 100 watts while being used, they overrate their power supply because they are used for more than one model and you may be able to use it without any problems at all in the truck.

Smaller laptops draw less. Also easier to keep in a truck. I have a Volvo which can store a small horse in here no problem. I have the biggest laptop made, an 18" gaming laptop from Alienware. The PS is 300 watts. And when I'm heavy gaming you can cook eggs on it.

If I run it off the battery for a while and let it get low and THEN game heavy on it, then it's trying to charge the battery and run the machine, it gets so hot you can smell it.

I doubt the moisture in the shower room would be very good for the laptop.

So as someone with a degree in computers, do not use a cigarette lighter to charge a laptop if you can help it. Most companies have an inverter anyways just make sure its installed make sure to ask.
I know a few setups if you want to game in comfort as well just ask

No I'm not. I paid almost 3000 for this laptop. It came with the proper power supply. It's just a beast of a machine.

I recommend downloading a program called speedfan (or like program) and keeping a close watch on that processor temp.

Here is what it looks like!

Find out what the normal operating temps are for your processor and drives. If this program is showing they are running hot you need to augment the cooling system OR clean the fan system. ALL processors are programmed to throttle back as they get hotter than they were designed to operate. I don't care what kind of laptop you are using or how much money you paid for it. Heat is the mortal enemy of any kind of electronics.

I mostly use a tablet with a keyboard/case. It plugs into a cigarette lighter with an usb-c adapter. It also has its own telephone number so its got unlimited data from verizon so I dont have to use any public WiFi or hotspot or anything. Or you can use a laptop charged through the inverter, Id be surprised if any company wouldn’t allow you to have an inverter installed. A mega I worked for would install it in their shop for free if you provide the inverter of course. Some peoples need it for cpap machines so it’s pretty common.
