I've read others that seem to be of the same nature but you don't mention them. Why single me out in particular?

I've edited a considerable amount from my previous post. Is it now acceptable for a newbie? Is there a word count limit I should focus on when posting as a newbie? How much is too much as far as politics go? I see many posts bringing up politics so I don't know where line is.

Are you a staff member or can you show me where I can find the forum rules? Seems like things are quite rigid here so I'd hate to run afoul.

I was just giving you a heads up since you just joined last Tuesday, that makes you a newbie. You free to say what you feel, long as you keep it in topic of that particular thread. No, I wasn’t targeting you, others that have been here long enough know how this works, even go as far to stop when they figure there going into political topics. In closing, if you decide to search the political section, the password is THICKSKIN, @REO6205 can correct me on this since. And maybe “youcangetoverit”

Edit; My apologies, forgot to tell you, “Welcome to TTR”

Thanks. Still seems like you singled me out because others are speaking of politics as well. Is my edited post acceptable now? Again, not sure how much can be said on the topic. I'm not interested in the political section. I'm not here for politics. Where can I find these rules you're speaking of? I think that's the most important area for me right now. I can't follow them if I don't know what they are.

Here.. open the link and read away. Third thread down is a good place to start.

@Diesel Dave was just giving you (a new member) a heads up about what’s what.

The long time members already know the risks so don’t feel like you were singled out. Members can also report posts/replies that violate the TOU and one of the forum staff will look at it and decide what to do.

Thanks. I found exactly what I was looking for there. There's literally only three rules. Should be easy to follow. As far as the political thing that's going to be challenging finding where the line is to not cross. I guess I'll just avoid any mention of politics at all to be safe.

Mentioning politics isn't a sin, debating politics is.
In other words I can say, I think our government is dysfunctional and useless.
But to call out specific political figures is usually a bad idea.

I've done just that about three years ago. Couldn't be happier with my decision

The main reason we try to keep politics out of the main forum is because political subjects almost always cause friction.
One guy says something, another guy disagrees and a third guy jumps in with his opinion that neither one of them are right.
See where this is going? Pretty soon what was a normal everyday thread turns into an argument. The argument picks up speed as more members join in. Pretty soon the insults start. And the name calling. The thread turns into a brawl. Always. I've seldom seen it fail.
In the meantime a perfectly good thread is left behind while some of our more contentious members scream at each other and display their more juvenile and petty side.
TTR doesn't have the time nor the staff to referee every fight that political discussion inevitably turns into. Therefore we'll try when we can to stop political arguments before they take over a thread. A lot of times the members themselves will warn a new member about the political rule. We appreciate that.
The politics section is a great place if you want to argue politics. It's very lightly moderated, almost to the point of not being moderated at all, so if you want to call somebody an insulting name or make fun of him or deride his politics...that's the place to be.
