Someone told me to get the other certifications for hazmat and hazardous material trucking and all that to have a better résumé when I start out trying to look for jobs. Do you guys agree? I don't mind getting them but I'm not sure if I would want to do very risky stuff like that. Lol. I know the pay is amazing But is it worth it or truly dangerous?

Get all the endorsements before graduating from CDL school.
Hazmat loads are hauled in dry vans and reefers also. Cans of spray paint are considered hazmat or fingernail polish. Couple pallets of Summer's Eve could be classified as hazmat and needs a placard and driver with hazmat endorsement.
The dangerous stuff is hauled by specialty companies or fuel tankers.

How do you get endorsements while still in school? I don't even know what they are. How do you get them?

    austinmike Thanks this.

Do I have to pay money for these endorsements? If so, how much?

    austinmike Thanks this.

    Only pay for hazmat endorsement.
There's a phone app. for the endorsements and it has all the questions and answers. Just memorize those and you can pass the simple test.

Also what is the deal with driving long hours and getting blood clots in the legs and stuff. Is that a major concern for you guys? Does it happen? Are you allowed to get out of your truck to walk around when you have to according to doctors recommendations?

    austinmike Thanks this.

I just read that when you're driving the CDC recommends getting out of your car and moving your legs every 2 to 3 hours, so how do you all not get blood clots??

    austinmike Thanks this.

Stop every 3 hours or so and walk around the truck a few times.
Don't start talking about doctors around a trucking company or they get nervous and probably won't hire you.
