Hello truck drivers
I'm changing my career from Healthcare to Trucking. I'm kinda bewildered at all the opportunities I've been offered from the Mega Carriers. Last week I received my CDL Permit and Medical Card.
Trying to decide if I should pay $4800.00 and attend the local CDL course or accept a position with Schneider or KLLM/FFE.
Any guidance would be very much appreciated! Thanks in advance

If you accept an offer like that from a carrier -- you will be basically at their mercy -- for the length of your obligatory contact with them.
If you go with a nearby CDL course from a local tech school or comm college -- you (instead) graduate out to a level playing field.
Your choice....

If KLLM offered a school & job, then take it. You'll do well there.
KLLM seem a little better than FFE pay wise.

Where is your location? State & nearest city/town.
If you decide to not go with KLLM, we'll help you find another decent paying company that will hire you from that private cdl school.
How many hours is the private cdl school?Last edited: Nov 28, 2023

Some companies will reimburse you for the cdl school,if you paid it yourself.A lot of options for you.

Of the two choices I would trust KLLM more, in my experience applying with Big Orange they have tried to bait'N'switch positions on me twice so don't believe that you are certain to get what they may lead you to expect.
Roehl Transport is a good company to get your training from if you already have a CDL, if you decide to look at them try to get on with their flatbed division.FullMetalJacket and Chinatown Thank this.
