You know, there used to be quote on the main website here Truckersreport.com about I-80 in WY being a graveyard of Prime Trucks in a ditch. I always thought it was a low blow.

Im not saying it doesnt happen to Prime drivers.. I, myself, have never seen a Prime Truck in the ditch.

You know who I do see more often... FedEx. Twice within 20 miles in New Mexico last week...same day. 3 FedEx trucks on I-65 North and South of Indianapolis last month over a period of 2 days...(one of them slid into the cement wall of an overpass and caught fire) one the night before, 2 the next day.

I have actually watched 2 KLLM trucks jacknife on icy roads before my very eyes. I84 west on the hill outside Baker last year... and I80 outside Grand Island, NE in December. A third one, initially looked like he had jacknifed, but he was crossing the median at a service access, changing directions on I80 in NE... summer day... got stuck... the resulting backup caused a tractor to slam into the rear of another tractor with a glancing blow that ripped the cab from the frame.

For the most part there are very courteous drivers who pass me while I drive 55 in the far right lane, hugging the far right white line... On the other hand there are quite of few drivers blow by at 60-75 miles an hour and either give me a dirty gesture, or hot dog a lane change by riding the dotted line, and/or seeing how close they can come to taking off my bumper without actually doing it.

Thats my rant... after again, nearly being run off the road.

Couldn't agree more. It's funny how the "Starter companies" including Prime always get the razzing, yet FedEx takes the cake hands down. I've seen more FedEx trucks in ditches and involved in accidents than any other carrier. Just saw one last week that managed to dangle his second trailer off a bridge. Every snowstorm this winter I've seen a MINIMUM of one FedEx truck in the ditch.

And I also saw a KLLM truck jacknife on NE-2 in early January.

I've been driving for a year now, and have seen one Prime truck involved in a relatively minor accident during a snow / ice storm. Slid through an intersection and hit a parked car. That's the only Prime wreck I've seen. I've lost count on FedEx...

In my 4 years at Prime, I have seen 1 of our trucks in the ditch, and it wasn't in Wyoming. I have also seen a logistic truck rolled over in the ditch..... less than 500 feet from the main terminal entrance in Springfield.

I agree with that part of these bungholes passing us, by that I mean the slow trucks. Mine goes a whopping 62 so I get passed most of the time myself. What I hate the most for example is like down on I 85 there south of atlanta where they have been doing road for awhile and its 2 lanes with the k rails on both sides. And these morons have to get in the left lane and pass. I'm goin like 56, 57 in a 50 and these clowns are blowing by me. there's no room in there. And yea for fedex lets make sure we blame the right goons, that being fedex ground. We all know that just wanted to put it on paper so to speak. they're all owner operators and drive like idiots. they are always flying and then lose control of those wiggle wagons.

I saw a Fedex rig a couple of weeks back that apparently WAS pulling a set of pups before they both somehow got separated from the cab AND each other and laid on their sides in the middle of the interstate. The cab was still sitting upright... pretty amazing really. The best part is that it happened on dry, flat, open road and I didn't see another vehicle involved.:biggrin_25526:

Lessee... two years ago, I20 in TX, summer day, sunshine, roads perfect. One FedX pup on it's side, the other one on top of it. ???

I understand back in the day our biggest account was FedX - a huge amount of our business, with the standard FedX demands for on-time, no matter what. That's where Don L. got his quip about hot freight coolin' in the ditch. Also why we don't do very much FedX any longer.

I'd really like to argue on the part of Fed X, but your right. They tailgate cars and trucks in traffic, cut lane changes too close. Good way to get it to stop start sending there trailer numbers and location/ time of day to their safety department.

If you only go 55 everywhere, then you MUST be paid by the Hour. I am not saying you should speed, but if you can go the speed limit, it would be much safer for everyone else.

I don't remember what carrier this was, but going through some city I was a rig high centered on top of a concrete median, but not damaged. I still scratch my head at that one
