Your exactly right !!! And that’s one of the differences between a steering wheel holder and a honest to goodness driver.. Basically their to lazy and not smart enough to read a Atlas because they don’t know the simple things like even numbered interstates & US highways run east & west ,3 digit interstates are bypasses and most city’s & towns streets run east & west & avenues go north & south and the numbered streets & avenues start from the center of the town or city . But it’s easier to just listen to the box because it’s never wrong when you can’t think for yourself

I would respectfully submit -- using a GPS (or Google Maps, or Waze) as the sole nav device is rather dangerous.
With that said -- a GPS unit does bring some nifty advantages to the game -- it's easier to see/read than most any cell phone screen (for those of us who aren't 20 years old anymore).
Post #16 here details more ways a GPS proves its worth and keeps a driver out of trouble....despite their current flaws & quirks. Thankfully -- those flaws and quirks do have useful workarounds; otherwise, I would have thrown mine out the window long ago.
