I have one of the new Garmins but honestly I just use google maps and satellite view for final mile. Like the other guy said….use common sense when using google maps.

Smart Truck Route 2 is pretty decent. It's not flawless but for something like 65 bucks a year I have no complaints. If I don't like the initial route I just add a via point along my preferred route. -
Do NOT buy a Garmin Dezl otr610. I got one several months ago, to track mileage in an old truck with an inaccurate odometer, and I don’t think it would ever take you on the same road twice! Also very inefficient on mileage, I can save nearly 2 hours a day using Google Maps. And, just like Kshaw0960 said, they detest a 2 lane…

I got a brand new Dezl 1010 about half price on Ebay from a reseller. It's pretty #### good, but not perfect. I've heard numerous complains of RM freezing up. I had freezing issues with my dezl 700 but NONE with the 1010. Using my phone to input the address or just saying "Ok garmin," and then stating the address and it fills in everything for you and then asks if you're ready to go, that's pretty awesome.
I combine it with google maps. I think what a lot of people are doing is putting the weight on the Dezl right at 80,000lbs. Well, if you do that, it will route you around a 2 lane road with a 35 ton bridge in the middle. So I set mine to 60,000lbs. That way it keeps me off the 57650lb roads in rural MS and such, but won't route me around a 35 ton bridge. I've had no issues with mine taking me down 2 lane roads like this and its usually very close to google maps as far as routing is concerned. I've seen the Garmin and Google maps routes for a 1400 mile trip differ by as little as 3 miles. And considering one is set to avoid tolls and the other isn't, that's pretty good.
The map updates are important, do them as they come in.expedite_it Thanks this. -
Whichever nav device you finally get -- DO NOT rely solely on it all the time to be error-free.
The perfect truck-based GPS has yet to be brought to market.
I have had good success with a Garmin Dezlcam gps when delivering fuel to remote areas in northern Florida.
However -- to keep out of trouble, I also routinely checked its solutions with:
- TruckerPath
- Rand McNally's Commercial Motor Carrier Atlas
- Google Maps street & satellite views
- weather apps (when appropriate)

Sounds good.
Does the Dezl allow you to set a speed warning at say 8mph over the limit? -
