Hey Marty, I went to ASU in Newport. Stressful, but enjoyable! They DO NOT have enough trucks for all the students so...be aggressive! (<-- you'll see what I mean.) Too, they're accredited, so you not doing wrong by going. Good instructors and a lot of fun! Retain about half of what you learn.., you'll get your education with a trainer. Oh, the instructers know a lot about USA, they'll tell you (the truth.)
!!

Hi All,
Just an update... I'm still at home :smt083
Usa Truck called yesterday to postpone my orientation for a week. Now my start date is Feb 2. I didn't really understand exactly what she was saying, but she said something about 45 people comming off the road this week, and 90 something next week, and if they put me through orientation this weekend, they'd have to send me back home anyway cause they wouldn't have a trainer available... ya da da da....
This is really discouraging.. I tried to sound positive, but I was really bummed. She was very appologetic and seemingly sincere!?!?
So I'm still home and the bills are really building up.

Thanks for the info,
Marty -
I wonder if this means they are having a work slow down? I don't know if this is something normal but I guess it depends on how many drivers they have. Let us know before you leave,
Thanks,
Marty -
no wonder my bud NIKON is still waiting.

Well im on my hometime after completing my so called "training" after 4 weaks of #### being shacked up in a truck with my so called "trainer",and just thought id share my adventure with usa truck, hope this helps any students out there that might be concidering this company to start....... 1) First thing i want to say is... if you get a call from a recruiter named andrea from usa truck JUST HANG UP! She is nothing but a dam lier PERIOD!!!!! 2) The "Trainers" are nothing but a bunch of big fat ,lazy, dirty slobs .3) Equipment??? nothing over 19 months old??? ########! Most of the trucks i seen were old internationals , never getting serviced, the truck i was "training" in was 12 thousand miles passed due for service by the time i finally excaped my "training" period, And talked to several usa drivers during my 4 weaks of #### who were broke down due to poor maitenance on the trucks .4) If they tell you they will provide transportation and motel for orientation make sure you take xtra $ along with you, when i hit dayton ohio i had no cab fair to my no paid motel room .5) If you survive orientation and head out with a "trainer" make sure you always have bus fair because if the "trainer" or his dispatcher gets mad at you they can dump you off at any time no matter where you are , And dont dare quit unless you are real close to home ......Well i somehow survived my "training" with usa truck and im waiting on my "new" truck I feel im kinda locked into this company for a while but if i had to start over i would not pick usa truck to start or finish with

Hi All,
I'm still home... and still scheduled for this postoned Feb 2nd start date. I called Jamie in the recruiter department again and she says I'll still be starting Feb 2nd. I asked if I could confirm this further in any other way prior to arriving at the hotel on the evening of the 1st. She said I could call the hotel this week,, that she would be sending a manifest to the hotel on Monday (today).... so I thought I'd give the hotel a call Tuesday (tomorrow) and see if I'm on the list. That should make me feel a little better!?!? This extra week of waiting is really going slow!! I hate stagnation... guess I should just be happy I've got a week off!? I'll know a little more tomorrow, and I'll post to let you all know.
Also, something else I keep hearing (like you said Marty) is that the whole industry slows down after Christmas. A couple companies I applied with told me to call back after mid - end February because they'd have a lot more work after the "new year slow down".
Trying to see a bigger picture here... this might all be great for the new graduate right now.. Just about the time we get 4-6 months experience, the whole industry might need to add more drivers. I'm thinking this could lead to either more bargining leverage at the job we have or maybe even a different job, paying a little more.
Just guessing a lot,

Hi shannon27sc,
Thanks for the info! This much info makes me pretty curious. Can you tell us more about your brother and USA Truck. Some history of each would give me a better idea of what the problems are. Rude doesn't surprise me too much as I think a big percentage of the world seems to be getting more and more rude all the time.
Ya just got me wondering all kinds of things now

Where'd she go?
Anyway... I promised an update.
I called about being confirmed for the start date of Feb 2 (this Friday). Jamie says I'm starting for sure. Hope this holds this time!
