    First week of training at Cypress, and 4 more weeks to go, my trainer is home on the weekends, so I'm off right now, Cypress is alright for now. First impression of actually driving a truck and putting 400 miles a day? It's hard, harder than I thought, not the amount of time you drive part, but the different kinds of roads you drive on. I've lived in Florida for 12 years and I have never driven to another state in a car before let alone in a truck, because Florida is so flat, so I'm not used to driving on all these roads, climbing on hills that are 100 feet high and climbing down on them, bridges that are 100 feet high with nothing but a big lake on the side of them, it was nerve-racking!! Going through freaking Atlanta with traffic on both sides of me, traffic pattern changing, road constructions, it's crazy as hell. All of that with a freaking 77k lbs load of lumber that is notorious to shift on my trailer... I haven't gone through the mountains yet but my trainer wants to take me there, I don't want to LOL!! Well, I guess you get used to everything new you're doing, and I just have to get used to them, and practice perfect things right? The things I have to work on more are my backing, like my setup and stuff, I need to stop over-steering and I definitely need to watch out going through tight areas so I don't hit anything. Any more advice would be appreciated, but I just wanted to give you guys an update.

    Not being in trucking yet I can't give any specific advice on the driving part. The only thing I can say is to reiterate what you mentioned...you will get used to it, every time it will get a bit easier each trial is just paying in toward that end goal. Focus, relax, breathe....mind over matter and tune out all the distractions.

    @nextgentrucker --

    If you can stick with it -- later on, you will be glad you did.

    You can look back on all this later...with the personal satisfaction that....when things got tough -- you persevered.

    The skill sets that you are now acquiring are highly sought after -- & will be even moreso in the future.

    Truly good truck drivers who really know what they are doing are (& later will be) in solid demand.

    Hang in there, Ba-by! (as they say)

    Cool, I'm taking baby steps and learning as much as I can, I don't think I'll stay for a year in a flatbed though lmao, I'll do at least 6 months then bounce! I'll go do Tanker LOL!!

    CAUTION: The current CDL job scene is a seller's market -- & thus most tanker fleets will probably not view you favorably with only 6 months experience.

    You'll get a much warmer reception if you have at least a year under your belt.
