Well the big problem is, simply most tools that say it is illegal have no merrit or character to research what they are spewing. When I went to school 12 years ago, I was at that time a reserve LEO and I always carried my service weapon or my backup as required by my agency. I drove to Tampa everyday and was questioned while in school when one of the instructors saw the butt of my weapon while climbing into the truck. He threw a fit. It was actually quite commical, I went to the deans office, showed him my credentials, and incidently he informed all of the instructors there was nothing tey could do as I was a current sworn officer and I had the law on my side. One in particular swore up and down it was not legal and he knew due to his 20+years experience. I contacted my Lt. and he gave me a copy of the laws governing me and CMV and the guy still proffessed it was wrong even though I proved otherwise. Point is, there are ppl who will listen to the word of a total stranger and take it as gosspel. This is a battle even though we are correct inour knowledge, there will never be a victor due to simple ignorance on the other side of the conversation. The only state that is a PITA of they find your weapon is NY. They ignore it and claim it has no merrit on their state. If you are a member of the NRA it only takes one phone call to them and they will fight for you so long as you adhered to that law. Now some states say you have to have the ammo locked seperate from the weapon but no where is it stated in the law other than being unloaded. I use a singlelock box and simply clear the chamber and remove the magazine and it is all kept in the same box. NRA says it is wha the law states and there is no presedence determining otherwise as far as the federal law is concerned.

oh no! it's that Lurch guy spouting off again!
I really really REALLY understand the desire to lock this thread. Just as I understand the desire to hunt down the "illegal to carry" bozos and beat some sense into them.
Unfortunately, neither option will do any good.
In one case, well, you can't beat sense into a rock
In the other, upon finding this thread locked, you know at least 20 of these nutjobs will simply start a new thread, thereby causing the fine staff of this exemplary board much pain and discomfort as they have to run around like chickens locking and deleting and generally doing stuff over and over and over...
That may be the longest sentence I've ever written, and it's not even complete.
These days, I deliver locally and I'm familiar with all the locations. I generally leave my weapons at home. However, If I go back OTR, you can bet that me, my CCW, and my boomstick will be travelling together! -
Better double-check the federal laws, amigo.
I hear carrying a broomstick in a commercial vehicle violates the law.
A friend of mine's brother knows a chick who's boyfriend's best friend went to school with a guy who worked for a dude that was married to one of the local PTA members who was told by a high-school drop out who researched various laws while incarcerated who thinks he remembers an incident where a Big truck truck driver got busted for carrying a broomstick in a commercial vehicle.
Although he got away with doin' that for many years, his downfall came when he pointed said broomstick at a guy tryin' to rob him, and the would be robber sued him for scaring the holy hail outta him which caused his hair to turn white.
I know
I know ---
It's hard to believe that could cause hair to turn color.
But I'm told
It's twue!
It's twue!

Baack Thanks this. -
first of all, the bill of rights (and the bible for that matter) were written by men. there is no "God." secondly, these laws can be changed (or amended) at any time. no one has the right to carry a gun any where they want, any time they want. all rights come with restrictions and stipulations. you need to see the late, great George Carlin's last concert. and maybe you can answer why, if rights are "God given," that different countries have different numbers of different "rights," whereas some countries have NO rights at all. -
Let's not turn this into yet another religion thread.

Chief,
I hope we never meet...we would NOT get along well at all.
