Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Ok, so the shows are not realistic and are overly dramatic.
The shows have given a face to some drivers.
They have shown elements of trucking to the general public, and introduced them to some people that they can relate to in some way (otherwise the show would not have hit it off).
The average American has no idea what we deal with or do. Nor do they care.
But millions of them watch these shows. It shows them a glance of the fringe elements of trucking. Gives a face to it.
At this time the average American may not have much interest in what the average driver deals with every day. But more and more of them watch these shows every season. This may eventually lead to having enough interest in it to get them to really want to watch a more realistic portrayal of trucking in the future.
To eventually see where the term "Sweat shop on Wheels" came from.
To see how professional we can be in a profession that is not one, according to the Dept. of labor.
We are highly skilled unskilled labor.
Most Americans do not know this. But maybe eventually thru an introduction to trucking they get from these shows they will look into our lives more in the future and see.
The only show I could see happening that could be realistically done at this time would be a rookie show.
Film the trainees in a CDL mill, then out on the road with a company trainer.
See what they really go thru in learning the ropes and then getting out on there own.
The good, the bad and the ugly.
I really think people would watch it. There would be allot of drama and they would not even have to work to get it.ukkiwi, RW., afkimmel and 1 other person Thank this. -
Haha yeah, my first CR England trainer "Bobco", Waltzing around the cab in womens underwear asking what I think as I am frantically trying to get out of the cab before I throw up in it.

You do have a way of "painting a picture with words!"

LETS keep to the topic of the thread ?????????????????
Sure like to see that sentence more often !!!!!!!!! -
And just why should this thread be any different than any other thread?
-
Any trucking done in the Himalayas is done in 6 wheelers, you won't see truck and 53' trailers up there.
-
You should have a series called " Extreme driving in Colorado"...It's gets pretty brutal....especially trying to get an 80K gross rig through Trinidad P.O.E.....When the CDOT claims you're 82K gross......I would rather drive through the San Juan's during blizzard conditions with ice on the road while deadheading, than to deal with those thieves....

afkimmel Thanks this. -
I was staying on subject. I was merely pointing out in the thread that IF they were to do a "newbie gets training for OTR", that there are some uhhhh colorful scenes that many of us wish would have never happened.
