Where can I go?

Today is my second day of orientation. Learned about how the company started, hazmat videos, dock work videos it was very informative . It was very laid back so far. Im trying to get a buddy of mine in he wants to team drive with me. He just put his application in yesterday and they need 2 more drivers so we shall see what comes about.

I believe i can possibly get him in maybe. I'll keep you updated as things move along more. Hope all is well with you.

 

I'm familiar with several teams in LTL as I've worked at 3. But no ltl team makes as much as a Highly paid cryo team. But all cryo teams aren't highly paid. Some might bring in 2k per week gross. But highly paid teams would make 160k-188k for each driver.

 

I believe you.. ive never heard or seen any proof from anyone making that much but if so that's awesome for them.. im cool here at OD..

 

We have solo drivers at OD that can hit $160,000 if they're working a 6th day. I'm grossing $140,000 on 5 days working 52hrs a week. If I really tried I'd be at $160,000.

 

Thanks gomer for clearing that up. Idk why people are sleeping on OD they pay amazing. When he said teams can make 160-188k i dont believe that but if its true thats because he heard a guy that told him he know a guy who made that much. The average driver isn't going to make 160-180k hauling cryo maybe one guy did it.

People say the same at ups like ohh i know a guy who made 170-200k yeah one guy whos top senoirity and works ever single hour of overtime they will give him thats no every or the average driver.

I know the average solo driver at OD can make 100-120 on a whatever bid run. A senoir driver with a great bid run can make 130-150k plus a year. A solo extra board well can't really put a number on it because it depends how hard that driver wants to run but the opportunity is up to each individual driver.

Now as far as teams go i have no idea how much extra board teams can make or how much bid teams can make. All i know is what my terminal manager told me that ill make between 120-130k starting out my first year at bottom pay rate and i max out pay rate at 2yrs of service. Im not trying to have a competition of who pays more then this company all i know is OD pays very well and i have no reason to not retire from here. Plus OD Gives raises every year so these numbers we mention now wont be the same year over year because pay will keep going up and so will everyone paychecks.

 

I'm by no means claiming OD is the highest paid company out there.

 

Ohh i know but our point is they do pay very well and lots of drivers are happy with the money they earn and most importantly we value our jobs and love where we work..

Some might say I'm crazy. But I'm contemplating leaving old dominion for Estes. Nothing wrong with old dominion they are an excellent company have nothing bad to say at all. But I only applied for teaming to get my foot in the door with the impression of going solo extra board and eventually one day bid run.

Unfortunately I live closer to Cartersville, Georgia and kennesaw or marietta ga and old dominion doesn't have a terminal except Cartersville but that's all teaming no solo runs and the solo runs they have are already taken by senior drivers.. so because Atlanta is too far to drive to work and back everyday solo. Seen estes hiring extra board linehaul outta kennesaw, ga.

Would I get the miles extra board at Estes out of kennesaw Georgia is Estes as good as old dominion? The only reason I'd leave old dominion is because I'll basically never be able to go solo unless stay extra board for ever which they aren't doing the otr extra board at the moment so just super short runs like 300-450 miles if you can even get that also I don't wanna drive 70 miles to work and 70 miles back 5-6 days a week thats exhausting.. if I could transfer and get solo at Cartersville I'd stay at old dominion but that's never gunna happen.
