I’d sleep at scales pretty regular running the NW. I’d sleep at these and was never bothered:
SB Willard UT
Sage Jct ID
WB Boise ID
Drummond MT both directions
SB Inkom ID
EB Couer d’Alene ID
Dillon MT on 41
Twin Bridges MT on 41
Cameron MT on 287
Arco ID
Salmon ID
Never once in my life have I been woken up for an inspection or received an inspection before I could leave.
Scaling at a weigh station while it is closed?

When uncertain, avoid.... Applies to a lot of situations truckers encounter.
And if certain, plan to use the longer more scenic route.Last edited: Mar 7, 2024

There's a big difference between Idaho/ Montana and Tennessee/Georgia. I'll park in a Wisco scale no worries, but I'd never tempt fate in Ohio unless I had to.
I'd say most of the "I parked in a weigh station and got inspected" stories are akin to the "black Peterbilt vs moose" stories. Based on a true story but adopted by thousands as their own. -
That ain't no lie!
