I was there before covid for some years... avg. Pay, avg. Home Time, but decent shop, roadside, and DMs

It was coast to coast OTR(even for solos) and Dollar General only when I was there

It was better than Total and US Express that era

    JolliRoger and TruckerWifeBoogie Thank this.

The week I spent in IL, I noticed their bobtails taking up the lot at Love’s every night. That should tell ya something.

Maybe, maybe not. I was there for training with another company.

Since I've been here just long enough, at PTL, to know how they operate.

First, the load assignments come from the Planners straight to the drivers, which doesn't sit well with me. That's why they have dispatchers in place.

Secondly, if I get somewhere in the neighborhood of 2200 miles per week, that's a good week (I prefer 3'000 miles per week), drop and hook at the same location, wasting very little time (30 minutes maximum) to drop an inbound load, then pick up an outbound load.

Finally, I'm out here to make money, not sitting around, twiddling my thumbs. With all that now stated, what is everyone doing before dinner time Wednesday (Achieving 2 to 2400 miles)?

    TruckerWifeBoogie Thanks this.

Did a few months with PTL back in 2015. They pride themselves on being an employee owned company. If you're able to stick it out for 5 years, you'll accumulate stock in the company. During my inexperienced years I was a lot more paranoid, so I made certain decisions that had me and the dispatch at odds. They're not the worst company but I was the worst version of myself at the time. If I could only turn back the hands of time...
Stick it out as long as you can

Wow! A truck driver actually admitting he may have been a difficult employee for a company.
Did I just step into the Twilight Zone???
