First time posting in a while as the subject matter caught my eye. OP isn't the 'sharpest knife in the drawer' with poor writing skills to boot.

That being said, everything the op alluded to are quite possible. I worked Truck Haul for a number of years and must admit it's not for everyone (the ultimate understatement). Educational for sure and a good opportunity to add the experience to one's resume. Money? Nope, especially if one was a 'company driver', as I was.

A 1099 employee working for multiple independents at the same time (including Coldiron) 'can' make good money. The job paid well at one time, but that time was long past by the time I got involved. I was amused by the shills and gay lefty types who dominated my employer - found out they also disproportionately represent truck haul.

My memory of the independents like Coldiron, Truck Movers, etc? Having to go and pick up 'abandoned loads' at weigh stations, truck stops, Canadian border, at the consignee, etc. They would often show up at the consignee with no tools and walk away. Guess who did the undecking work? We mostly didn't mind as we were paid more to do the work on an abandoned load than on the load we just delivered - pain in the butt if one was on a tight schedule.

Having expensive tools stolen (employees provide their own) twice in a row only weeks apart was my last straw. Both times presumably by fellow employees. Had minor items turn up missing over the years but just rolled with it and bit the bullet. I was past due to go out on medical leave - the final decision was a 'no brainer'.

I live not far from the corporate headquarters of my former employer - don't even know if they're still in business, changed names, folded or what. Still see the piggybacks running up and down the highways so someone is still in business.

I dunno. I was planning on retiring from this company, and now OP has opened my eyes to some things.

I AM smarter than the owner, so will I face the same harassment? Scary stuff. Please advise.

Lonesome and TB John Thank this.

Well, as a Coldiron myself, you must know that over 500 CDL contractors love us and we treat alll like family.

Perhaps, but I don’t see where that casts any doubt on the OP’s story.
