you will see a driver traverse the spot where impact occurred.
Some; apparently were not that lucky.
My sincerest condolences to family and friends of all affected by this tragedy.
Port of Baltimore is effectively cut off.
    What a nightmare.

Me thinks with size weight of todays cargo ships they’d do much good
Look at the Bayou River bridge in Bama… smaller river barge tug took that one down

The west bound I-10 bridge in Baytown, TX was struck in 2019 and didn't collapse. It was a bunch of barges connected together not a container ship. But either way it was alot of weight that hit that bridge.

The bridge inspector that I spoke with was speaking on how alot of infrastructure in the U.S. is old and needs to be repaired. And in the way most of that bridge went down. Seems that thing should have been replaced years ago. It looked like a lego set falling apart.

You talking about Bayou Canot where the barge derailed the Amtrak…?

Just went across that bridge yesterday morning, a lot of Amazon loads come out of Sparrows Point Md and cross that bridge. Its going to be a major problem for traffic around Baltimore which is already pretty bad.

@Antinomian is right that bridge always gets the front axle bucking up and down no matter what speed or type of truck you have. Box truck, tractor trailer, tanker loaded or unloaded could get a driver with motion sickness seasick.

Don’t think highway bridges have them but I’m not certain on that either…

In the video you could see no lights were on the ship, then shortly before it hit the bridge the lights came on. Kinda odd they didn’t have any tugs helping guide it under the bridge that I could see….
