Yeah I’ve always been skeptical and critical of scams myself. But they even ran a drug and alcohol clearing house on me so I had no reason to believe it was a con.

Nowadays, the company name can tell you a lot. In this case, anything American, USA (not usa truck as they been around awhile) or the logo is an eagle or any other patriotic symbol or words……….it’s a foreign owned outfit. It’s easy to figure out just by observing things while out on the road.

If the logo is a lion……you surely don’t wanna work for them. Or names like International, letters X or Z if it’s a three letter name. Call me crazy if you want.

When the majority of the above companies sucks, it’s a good idea to look elsewhere. One or two guys getting lucky working there isn’t worth the risk. You won’t be the lucky one.

How true. My take is that you should avoid any company that makes too big a show of either patriotism or religiosity. Too many flags or scripture on the trailer is often used as a smokescreen to hide the fact that they are just a lousy company, regardless of whomever actually owns it...

Sure.. ever read the stories of the adult tantrums that some drivers have thrown? This is a story that has two sides, I don't pity either side

Are you insinuating that it's a possibility the driver pissed them off? Maybe failed a drug test? Threatened to abandon the equipment? It isn't unheard of for those companies to go to extreme measures to prevent getting repairs done on the road. You may be right, there is probably more to the story. Regardless of, that's a pretty foul way to leave a driver stranded.

It is.. but caveat emptor... we also will never see the contract that the driver signed and probably never read. I was just stating that truck driver stories are really suspect.. and there are ALWAYS two sides to the story.. "You knew I was a snake when you picked me up"

This is true. When you go to work for what appears to be a 1099 company in Chicago, all the drivers sign a contract. It definitely doesn't take a PhD to see that you're getting ####ed. When I went up there to work for one, I said that to myself as jotted my name down there. They got a short term rental for my services though.
