If it’s loaded those pins ain’t moving -
What a nightmare, happily we don't have sliding tandems in Europe, or at least I've never seen one, and seeing this I'm very glad we don't. Not sure why but I suppose fixed tandems were fine for 40 foot trailers and, when longer ones came along, by that time we were on tri-axles. So no weight problems, as long as you loaded sensibly.
Did see something on YT though where a driver turning too tight into an entrance where the RH wheels came up against a solid bollard. Instead of backing out and taking a wider line, he backed up so far and then put the pedal to the metal. Result, one set of tandems upside down and hanging out behind the now wheelless trailer.
Glad you got it sorted by blokes who know though.
Edit: thinking about it some more, maybe having shorter tractor units makes weight distribution easier, just thinking.Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this. -
Happened to me once
forgot to check the lock on a trailer I picked up .
hit the brakes at the first stop sign and they slid all the way back and the front pins popped out below the track .Magoo1968 and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
Was it this Rhodes Scholar? -
Yes that's the one, but I didn't see it all the first time round, love the way he just drove off leaving his vital parts behind.
Rhodes Scholar? Not even a Roads Scholar.
Maybe someone really did grab him by his vital parts later.Magoo1968 and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this.
