I have a Cobra 29LTD right now, with a Uniden Pro538 as backup. I might put the Uniden back in... seems to me it both sent and received better.

CB's are nice to have, some places they are almost mandatory, but like others have said, lots of idiots have radios.

What I love the most is when you are in really bad weather, and some ####### (has to be sitting in a truckstop) is spamming the airwaves.

Some people really do deserve killing.

I got a Connex 3300 HP bought it for a $100 of a hungry driver best ever radio for me,a General Lee I bought brand new at the old Citgo truckstop in Syracuse,NY.from Robin Hood he has since passed away from diabetes.I got the Lee matched to a 250 Palomar kicker,my next back-up is a Galaxy 44 I got off a hungry Werner driver.
I wouldn't go around the block without a 10 meter radio.I also run Wilson 5000 antennas one at a time.

I've been considering getting a connex. Don't really need a big radio but it'd be nice to stomp on the idiots when they get too annoying. I wanna see how many episodes of My Little Pony it will take to make them shut up.

If you match it to a 250 watt kicker you can still wire it witout going to the battery. It's a great setup without being too much. With the "economy"as is you can get some good deals in the parking lots especially on fridays when the drivers find out how much they didn't make that week and at the casinos. Great deals on all things trucking.

Exit 163 I-40 Dickson,TN.the 163 CB shop best most HONEST in the whole USA open 24/7/365:biggrin_255: With outside install for 15 bucks a hour very cheap.

Yeah, I need to get my antennas and coax looked at, it's factory junk. I thought those connex radios were already putting out 300-400 watts though. I mean, I wouldn't mind having a kicker but space is limited in here and I've already got wires hanging all over the place.

No you are thinking of the Connex 6600HP that is the one with the built in kicker and with it you will need to wire it direct to the trucks battery major pain at least it is to me.Just remember 3300HP or General Lee or General Grant they are all the same.

kajidono and Saddle Tramp Thank this.
  9. I talk on the phone a lot. I use the ham radio more than anything. I LOVE the ham radio on the truck. Talk all over the world to very interesting folks without all the CB bullcrap. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a lot of the folks I've talked to on the CB, but it always seems like some azzhat wants to ruin it with childish crap.

The way I keep the CB without it driving me crazy is to open the squelch all the way up, where it's WIDE open. Then, I turn DOWN the RF gain so that I can only hear you if I can see you. That way, if someone needs to get a hold of me, or wants to have a conversation, I'll hear them...without hearing who is or is not wearing panties and ready for bed.

I had an CB in the truck until Oct. 23rd, 2009 when the truck was broken into. Since then, I've never replaced, mostly due to more important things to spend my cash on. But there have been a few times lately where I wished I had one.
