Hometime is over. 10 days went by quickly. Mrs Johnboy dropped me at PBI an hour ago. Sitting at the gate waiting to board. I’ll be back at the truck about 1:30, get myself set up, check the truck out, then be ready for the 0300 dispatch.

Got a 4:30 wake-up call this morning. Hooked a set up and met a driver at the Flying J in Jackson Ga for a swap. It was nice giving him 2 trailers and getting 1 in return. The ones I gave him were going to Ocala Florida, the one I got in return came back to Murfreesboro. Got to watch the eclipse at the Pilot at Mont Eagle. Got back to Murf at 4pm and called it a day.

Was awaken at 0700 this morning with my load assignment to hook a set here in Murfreesboro and go to East Knoxville at the Pilot to swap with another driver. It’s a regular swap location and there was probably 15 trucks swapping. Unfortunately for me my swap was delayed for 1.5 hours while I was waiting on the other truck. Finally did my swap and brought that set to Lebanon. Broke that set down then grabbed an empty 53’ and got back here and called it a day.

This Linehaul gig is something I’m still getting use to. Enjoying the heck out of it but completely different from the OTR brain damage I did for all these years. Here’s my week so far.

Monday…..532 miles, total hours worked 9:34.

Tuesday…..405 miles, total hours worked 7:44

Yesterday was a day of moving equipment. Did 4 round trips to bring back empty trailers to Xtra Trailers , then I took an empty 53’ to Huntsville so I could bring back a set of empty doubles. I don’t get paid to think or debate why a 96 billion dollar corporation does certain things, I get paid to drive and do the job assigned to me. So yesterday was 401 miles and 8:04 on the clock. I’m good.

A schedule like that, and guaranteed great money would make me want to leave the rat race of Florida, especially south Florida where you live, and relocate and retire happily in Murfreesboro TN :)

I never know how many miles I drive per day. I just watch the countdown to destination then forget about it. Of course old habits are hard to break.
