You do know what to make the best of life, sir. Epic pictures. Have you thought of riding the Great Divide? I am thinking of doing something crazy like walk across America, maybe ride it on a bicycle too.Trucking and healthy life style don't get along, so trying to defy this is a huge challenge. Respect!

Might hop on the motorbike and take a rip out to the MTB park a few towns over, see if its open yet. Itching to get some flight time.

How's that Brooks saddle? I have an ambition to up my mileage this year. Someone told that when I get Brooks 17 - no cutout, my butt will thank me. Lol.

I’ve purchased the maps and that’s all. Getting away for a couple months would be the hardest part.

Had a long list of things to do before I head out tomorrow so I didn’t have time to drive anywhere for a ride that would be somewhat protected from the wind today. So I tortured myself close to home. Wind was out of the east/northeast at 20+. Headed south then I’d stairstep alternating between going east then north every few miles until I was in a bad mood from the wind. Then I pointed it towards home and made pretty good time. Lol.

Don't know how i missed this thread, but i carried a bike on the back of the tractor pictured since 2000. Started keeping track of mileages with Map my Ride in 2011 and have averaged over 1000 miles year since. Pictures below are just a few of great times I had all over the place. Didn't know that you guys were into bikes also. Good to know.

You want the cutout, as it weakens the area your perineum will be resting on. And, you absolutely want to wear cycling shorts.

Brooks are an acquired thing, IMO. You’re not going to get on one and have instant comfort. They’re not soft to the touch; they’re more horse saddle-ish in stiffness. They don’t work for every rider or every bike. Mine is 16yrs-old, this year. I still need time to reacquaint with it, after being off the bike.

If you decide to go with a Brooks, you want to take a bread bag, put the seat inside, dump a whole bottle of neatsfoot oil into it, and leave it soak for several days. Reorient the seat, each day, to help spread the oil around. This will help soften the leather and give it protection from weather and your nastiness. A Brooks is like a ball glove and requires maintenance; a periodic coating of fresh oil is about it. But, when I start feeling the metal framework across the back, I add a bit of tension to tighten up the leather. When you see a cyclotourist and their Brooks is all sagged out, it’s because they haven’t properly maintained it.
