There are hazmat tankers that only have 2 inches. Their chemical is some type of acid.
Also depends on the facility. Not all of them take you right on the spot. Some make you wait.

I have been advised to use the status Sleeper Berth and Loading in such a situation.

I pull food grade tankers and the place I work for expects us to stay on PC the whole time we're waiting to load which can result in 20+ hour days

When I first started my tanker job. I figured out how I could knock my 20 down to 12. It only happened on Sunday though when traffic was light.

The question I have is, do you get demiurge pay?
I drive a day cab pulling tanks so no sleeper for me. I have been up to six hours loading or unloading due to problems at the plants but I just have to eat the on duty time. But I’m hourly so I don’t really care. Just gives me time to plan what motel I will be taking my 10 at.Dennixx Thanks this. -
Off duty means releived of duty….so you do not necessarily need to be on duty at a shipper or receiver
Take for example all the places that will not let you in…you ck in by phone…given a door and wait with no responsibility
While you should show x amount of time on duty.,,ckng in etc After that off duty or sleeper is perfectly legal -
You should be using line 1, OFF DUTY, or line 2, SLEEPER BERTH, if you have one.Crude Truckin' Thanks this. -
If you are handling the spiller, holding the measure stick and a strapping chart; you are on duty. If you are not involved in the process AND your company has given you permission to do so; you can log off duty but without such permission the DOT would consider you on duty.
