That’s one of times, if I had time, I’d probably drop my trailer, hook that one and put it somewhere else. Preferably in a place that would make it a bit more WTF was this guy smoking place.

Edit: removed a swear word because I forgot we're not supposed to. My apologies -
Wait until you tear a strap or your winch bar breaks.

Another time when I was trying to loosen one of the straps, the bar flew up and smacked me in the face. That also did not feel good, but no broken bones or teeth anywhere. -
In the days before straps and we used ropes tightened with drivers' dolly hitches I fell on my back a couple times when a rope broke or. more likely, I hadn't done the dolly right. A safer way than pulling down with full body weight, was advised which involved making a long loop hanging down to put your foot in and tightened that way. The worst that could happen was that your foot stamped on the ground really hard, better then a broken skull though. Problem was it wasn't so effective as a tightener so most of us continued to risk it. Reckon we thought we were daft enough as it was, doing such a job out in all weathers, and a cracked cranium wouldn't make much difference.
cke, Kyle G. and Gearjammin' Penguin Thank this.
