oh boy,,u asked the million dollar question,,,u r fixing to get ten different answers and a riot should ensue,,,,i"ll launch the first salvo,,,get your cdl at tech school as planned,,,then go out and get signed on with one of the bigger companies,,,not swift or hunt or schnieder,,,but marten,,kllm,,stevens,,any company with at least 1ooo trucks but less than 4000,,,this way you will be put through the proverbial wringer but still have a chance at surviving a year or two without hateing driving,,,expect to go out with a trainer for a few weeks and maybe some class time too,,but here are some guidelines to keep in the forefront of your brain,,,your dispatcher does not drive your truck,,,,,,its your cdl/record protect it,,,,,dont tailgate,,,,get the efff out and look,,,,,and dont back up unless you r getting paid to,,,,and last,,,,,your carreer will live and die in your mirrors use them like a hooker at a stag party.

Well yesterday was a rough day and as it was almost over had this accident occur right in front of us, you can see my truck in the background, we used it to block the intersection, as well as my safety triangles to block the intersection till help could arrive, by the grace of god both passengers in the ford survived after one of the logs on the log truck was driven right through the car. Here is the news link: http://www.marshallnewsmessenger.com/news/article_9ac50b1a-4135-11df-b5c8-001cc4c03286.html . I'm so glad they survived!

Local work while hard to find is a good way to go if you only want to be a local driver but if you eventually want to run OTR you might wanna go with that after school.Good luck to ya.
