I'm looking to get my CDL through a class. The course would cost $2300, and it looks like I won't be able to get funding. So I'm wondering weather it will be a good investment to pay out of pocket for the course or to seek out a company that would pay for my CDL class as long as I sign a two year contract with them. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Your much better off paying for it yourself.
That way if you don't like the company you can leave,
or if you don't like trucking you can get out,
or if you get fired you don't owe a bunch of money while unemployed.

Why not just go to your local community college... they are usually the cheapest and can assist with student loans? No out of pocket needed! No EXPENSIVE "con"-tracts to sign...

yeah, dont go through a company if you have the option.
If you dont like the business or the job or the company and you leave, they'll stiff you with a bill for the schooling.
Most starter companies will reimburse you for CDL School. It's usually a couple hundred a month, but it's better then nothing! -
You could try Midwest Coast Transport in Sioux Falls. Its a one year commitment. I believe the school is 4 weeks long, it was 6 weeks when i went there back in late 99. I had a pretty good experience there.

Why sign a commitment to a company when they are going to take advantage of you for a year, pay you next to nothing, and if you default they wack you huge amounts of $$ in penalties.. It's a win, win for them and a loose, loose for you.. Go and get your own CDL at a regular school or even better a community college. (Like I said before they are the cheapest as a rule) and your done...
No signing your life away for a year as a slave to some POS company who could care less if you pass or fail.. In fact it is better for them if you actually fail! They stand to make MORE $$ if you fail...
