I remember well many years ago when we got into some stuff. My wife went lawyer shopping and picked the cheaper one. Court day comes and I could have done better myself.
A few years latter we got some issues again. This time I did the lawyer shopping and chose based on what they had to say, not cost.
Paid for research fee, paid a flat fee like you mention and then paid a fee for his court time.
Sounds expensive? But it got results and he made minced meat out of the cops.
Best part is All Charges Dropped but she was guilty and everyone knew full well but he picked apart everything and made everything the cops had useless.

Point of my story is, sometimes that money is well spent and dropping 7500 to keep my CDL clean doesn't sound all that bad.

    Forever237 and Siinman Thank this.

I agree with you but the problem is that there is a hole in the story.

I never had to send a lawyer to a state to fix a ticket like this on behalf of a driver, this can be taken care of through adjudication with evidence by mail or a phone call, so it can be cleared up.

Kansas isn't going to suspend the license, they can report the citation to Illinios, but Illinios needs to act on it.

I don't see why have a lawyer on the ground for this.

I've never gotten a receipt for showing my paper to the dmv. I DO get the paper back.

I'd think if he got it reinstated and showed the court exam was done before the suspension. Even worse case scenario said they screwed up. It's not your fault. The charge would be dropped. Specially since it was a parking lot. Which is usually private property.

So GO to court and admit the mistake and pay the fine really simple solution to the problem. Doesn't matter if it's "too far" planes trains and automobiles can get you almost anywhere.

I still don’t understand how a ticket was issued, while on private property, not driving. Did I miss something?

    PaulMinternational Thanks this.

It is up to the doctor doing the physical to send the info to the DMV. That's part of the $200 or whatever it cost.
The driver should contact the doctors office to find out what went wrong.
Then get a letter from them for the court.

doctors/clinics are not required to forward it to dmv. Some will for a EXTRA FEE and even then it can take up to 30 days to update in dmv's system because all they do is fax it in... that puts it at the back of the line behind the other 10,000 plus the faxed it that month.

It's up to uuuuuu and only uuuuu to get it done. And if uuuuu personally don't take it to the dmv and personally watch them update the info. You're taking a very big gamble on it not getting done.

Too many members on this forum relied on their company or the email or fax system. And finding out their license is suspended because who they relied on to get it done..Didn't.

I've got my new medical card last year and I've emailed it to the state. They've responded to me it has been updated.
Then I found out this year they didn't actually updated it on the system. At least they didn't suspend my CDL.
