Not just America, Canada as well so basically the whole North American Trucking system has problems.

Seems to be a serious problem here!

Ironically, the carrier I'm lease to says business is picking up so contract work does matter in these time. However, even with customers nothing is guaranteed.

This has been coming for a very long time. Groupo Mexico purchased them and FEC (Florida East Coast Railroad) from a holdings company about 7 years ago. Since then, Raven closed their Middletown, OH and Greensboro, NC yards. I didn't realize they had any OTR drivers left. I thought the only trucks they had remaining in the fleet were daycabs running out of Jax, FL and Albany, Ga and those trucks are Freightliners with diesel engines, no longer Peterbilts and Volvos with LNG engines.

Well they’re officially going to Chapter 7 (liquidation of assets). Expect more used trucks to flood the market.

Part of it is that a lot of these companies and/or owner/operators focus on one type of freight that they haul and sometimes that freight type is flooded with competitors that can drive the rates down.

They have too many eggs in one basket.

I said it previously,go to a truck stop and take a look at the trucks and look at the trailers that they are pulling. A majority of them that you’ll find are pulling dry van.

I was saying yesterday after staying at a Flying J in Kentucky. There are usually a few tankers, pneumatic, flat beds and slightly more reefer trailers parked. However, the majority are Dry Van trailers. Another reason as to why if I arrived to a Truck stop later than 8 pm when looking for a parking spot. I have to accept a noisy reefer besides me because parking is scarce & limited.
