They've got a bunch of old Caravan employees there, think they've been there from day one. The head HR girl has been around the industry forever was the recruiter at Transport N Service, the only other one I know there from past jobs is one of the account managers in the office and he started out as a dock hand at a place I used to work at and worked his way up at different places. Outside of the ones I mentioned most of them are fresh out of school and wouldn't know what a truck looked like if it hit them. They sure do like to blow their own horn on social media, that gets old quick. Any chance you could move to one of your companies sister companies? There are some good places out there and you can make more than the 75K that Wellington is offering, might have to drive a little further out of the GTA to find them though.

I was looking at inter county milk transport also they’re union 85-100k a year but it seems like milk hauling is a 365 a day job . Yes i want to make more money but having no life because your always working isn’t much of one either. Kriska owns Transport N service,Liberty Line haul Round the Lake ,mill creek , trans pro and a couple others . transport N and Liberty only pay $26-26.50 a hr i just looked and that’s not much better then what i make now but i’m only averaging 10-10.5 hrs a day and you would need to work at least 12 hrs a day or more at the other companies to make a decent wage at those rates

I’ve heard round the lake guys are like $30 a hr but no one seems to be hiring right now anyways and there would have to be a position available for me to move over

I would have loved to make that 75k a year guaranteed plus bonuses and Mike said ot also if wanted . I’m not the job hopping type and knowing how difficult it is to find a good company in southern ontario who treats you like a human being with respect. I’m not jumping ship on a contract with only 3-4 years left with no future guarantees of a job for a little more money. In my opinion doesn’t make sense , i’m better off looking for a company i know i can grow with and hopefully retire at the end who has many different contracts so there’s alway some kind of work . instead of jumping around from job to job because contracts keep getting lost and getting nowhere. big reason i asking this question here was to get more information from experience hands and i’m glad i did because you saying that you didn’t last long because the job wasn’t what you were told is exactly what i wanted to avoid. Being sold a bunch of bs just to find out i left a decent company just lower paying

Listened to your gut. Good call. Recruiter double speak. It probably wouldn’t have worked out for you and you would have screwed yourself.

Wasn’t kriska the company telling everyone that they need to pay hourly so drivers get a fair wage years ago??

yup Mark said every driver should make atleast 100k a year but that Market dictates what they can pay . It’s a load of bs especially when they can spend millions buying up companies left and right. The same article where wellington freight recruiter Mike brags about how they pay salaries to their drivers . These companies are all the same in the end it’s just a different name on the trucks door

With Sether saying he worked there for a short time and it wasn’t what they told him , it kind of reinsures me that i’m making the right decision. just sucks to lose a guaranteed 75k a year salary, that’s around 13-15k more then what i make and that’s before taxes . At the same time for me it doesn’t make sense to take the job just to find out i got sold a bag of goods and have to find something else

Recently saw this thread and my advice would be "Never Stop looking" for a better paying job with a good environment. Before the Pandemic I worked at a job for just over 20 years, seniority,, alright benefits, pension etc. However one of worse working environment and people with a disastrous work culture that plays a roll on your psyche. Made close to $100k with a lot of overtime. Leaving was the best thing I did & not for the money but piece of mind. From ages 20 years to 65 years old (45 years of working) people on avg. spend 37.5% (more than 1/3rd) time at work, so a piece of mind is essential. My point is 'Never give a job more then your soul can handle'.Note: 26% around 1/4 of your time without time and a half or double time on weekends but in this country and inflation you need to work OT

Once upon a time "Ontario, Canada' had companies with moral but wth things changed drastically in the last decade. Will it get better? Time will tell.

that’s exactly what i’m trying to avoid the toxic work environment, it seems like when you find a company paying more then $25 a hr it’s either one thing or the other when you look for reviews online . I understand you always get the disgruntled employees but when it’s over and over again there’s issues. the other problem is not work life balance i have no problem working 12 hrs a day . 14 hrs everyday is a little excessive in my opinion and or being on call not being able to do anything . I would be happy with 80k a year that’s 20k more then now , i’m not asking for the moon just a company who pays well and respects me like a fellow human being not like a piece of equipment
