If you can't find a job OTR because of where you live look at local delivery jobs such as food or construction look for companys that have both semi's and straight trucks Good Luck

First, congratulations! Second....one way to search for carriers in a particular area is to use this site: https://ai.fmcsa.dot.gov/ It's the SafeStat site but you can manipulate it by state, region, county, SEA Score, # of power units, etc. Categorizing the search by county, for example, will give you a list of many, if not all, of the carriers in that particular county. I've run across some small, "sleeper" carriers with good safety records doing this. You never know when one of those might be looking for a driver just like you. Good luck!

Just a thought or two about the 9-10 shift thing. There's a wider split between those two gear ratios than there is between the lower gears so it does tend to take a extra little mental blip before they slip in. Just a practice thing.

Also, think about your shift pattern. When you're shifting R-1 or 2-3 (7-8) with your hand atop the shift knob your arm and hand naturally are moving in a parallel close to your body. When you shift 4-5 (9-10) your hand is actually moving in a shallow arc and you're unconciously pulling the stick towards you instead of straight back and forth. This makes for a slight drag going into gear. A trick I was shown years ago is instead of resting my hand on top of the stick when shifting those gears I cup my hand around the front of the knob for 4-5 upshift or the rear of the knob for 5-4 downshift. Might help you.

Thank's for the input kitty. My instructor said that i should take an extra second to make the gear change.I also think you're right about the hand position. I may not have to change gear's though.I have pretty much been given the green light with wse and us express. Both companies are auto shift. crst also wants to hire me as well as a maybe with squire. Anybody have any input ??I would make crst my last choice. wse start's at 26 cent's after training crst at 22 cent's. I'm not sure about the other 2.Untill next time , y'all drive safe....
