Give you a little heads up… when you hear the kickstand or frame stating to rub don’t push it!!! That’s exactly why my shovel is setting today, I told him to be careful it’s a rigid and sets really low.
He apparently didn’t listen, split his left kneecap open, lost a tooth, and damaged my pride and joy at the time.
Some of the crotch rockets use tires with what some call a “chicken strip” if it’s showing wear on the chicken strip you’ve really had it laying over.
Keep in mind centrifugal force is your friend to a point, know when to say when. And don’t try to lay over to far at very low speeds, gravity can trump centrifugal force at times….

First time my wife and I rode the tail of the dragon ( 318 curves in 11 miles) it rained hard every inch of the way!! I was batting my eyes like a frog in a hail storm I tell ya.
If I have my rags I don’t mind to much riding in the rain, but prefer a nice warm sunny day for sure….Tug Toy, jamespmack, CAXPT and 7 others Thank this. -
Always liked that body style. Hood is saying 1961 model….?Tug Toy, jamespmack, CAXPT and 3 others Thank this. -

"Chicken strips" aren't part of some special type of tire. It's simply what sporty riders call the area between the used tread and the sidewall. The more tread you have unused, the more of a 'chicken' you are.Tug Toy, jamespmack, CAXPT and 7 others Thank this. -
I remember when he first published the book and started the school. Lots of people sort of scoffed at the idea. Turns out, it was a good idea. Some of the best things that are used in MSF rider training come from his books.
Back when he was racing, he was fast. The one thing I remember most is that he was solid consistently.
Lap times were within .001’s. Probably his biggest weakness in racing was not taking the risky moves.jamespmack, CAXPT, dwells40 and 6 others Thank this. -
On March 27, 1967 a skinny 18 year old kid got on a bus headed to San Antonio to get processed into the Navy where I spent the next four years of my life. But this post isn't about me. It's about the thousands before me, during me, and after me that stood up and did their part. For those who have served or are serving Thank You for your selfless contribution. Stand tall and proud because you earned that right to do so. I hold no animosity whatsoever for those who chose not to serve, but I have nothing but animosity for those who travel in mobs trying so hard to destroy what others have fought to keep and maintain. So for those spineless pricks who have to have a mob to lean on, I have these very sincere words just for you. F U you miserable pathetic POS. For the rest of you, have a safe day, and please take ten seconds of your day, and give a silent thank you for those who stepped up to the plate because they deserve that much.
