I've been saying this for a while now on multiple threads. Trucking companies see their margins fall somewhere between 2.5% to just over 8%. Some say, possibly up to 10% My wife is planning to open medspa and the average medical spa owner makes between $300,000–$375,000 annually after expenses, making the average profit margin for a med spa between 20–25%. If this happens, my retirement plan times are cut in half.

Tesla Semi's have been breaking down more then most think. I'd never purchase one plus I haven't seen one tested in the northern arctic yet in sub degree temperatures. Electronics act different in fridged temperatures. Just remember, Over Capacity is a major problem in the current trucking industry today. And rates (the majority) are cut into half so most are operating less than $2 per mile. I even seen some trying to run at $1.40 per mile and for those with a truck payment it can't happen from what I see with food prices so high unless they haven't any other personal overhead as a home (rent or mortgage).
Cash is King, so hopefully you and your business partner have a minimum or $100k (which still isn't much in this business) operating. Spot market freight can cut it either considering the volatility of the market!

Doesn't sound like it.
Let's put it another way. if this 'experience driver' is good enough to go into business with, why are they not doing it on their own?
Seriously if you are in the risk management end of finance, then you know that many of these companies are flying by the seat of their pants and one reason why we have a >90% failure rate in the first year alone, transfer of ownership is just the same as a new start up.
5UG and LoneRanger Thank this. -
