This works better than all that. Just put this life size cardboard cut out in the passenger seat and nobody will dare mess with you including bears.

NJ treats black powder, even BB guns the same as any other firearm and they will lock one up for JUST hollow point ammo even without means to use it.........NJ.NY.CT. and MA are all not gun friendly and most PD will lock you up to let the Judge figure it out.

Use the link I provided to see where you can carry legally.
I’m in Florida so I can basically run all the states I would be happy with.
Some of the not legal states I can drive through legally but it’s a gray area in regards to stopping for any reason. NY is one where you can’t stop for nothing.
I think it’s DC or Maryland that requires you to place the firearm on your dashboard in plain view..crazy I know but that’s the way it is.

Screen shot is of where I can run being a resident of Florida.

Link can be a bit glitchy so be patient.

There are federal laws that allow one person who is legal to own/possess a firearm to transport from one location where it is legal to possess to another location where it is legal to possess a firearm. There are no laws specifically applicable to OTR truck driving. You have to comply with the laws in all jurisdictions in which you stop or travel, outside of the federal transporting law I described at the start.

If you are a company driver or lease-op you are probably also subject to company policy. Virtually no trucking companies are going to allow firearms in the truck, if they have a policy. This issue is beaten to death on the web site so please read the past threads. There are risks and benefits to having or not having a firearm in the truck. Having a gun can make a small problem into a big problem likewise not having a gun can escalate a small problem into a big problem. Imagine having a medical emergency while driving and going to the hospital. If your company recovers your truck and find your gun, which company policy prohibits, you could be fired and lose your health insurance while you are in the hospital. Likewise, having a gun which you use to protect yourself from a high crook could escalate from an argument into a fatal event or jail time for one or both of you. You won't know until the event happens. Being an adult it hard, there are risks to either option. The only way to be legal everywhere is to be a retired cop with a badge, or not have a firearm. Any other status besides those 2 depend on the specific events and the specific location in which the event happens.

Those are pre1989 and thus not classified as firearms by the ATF. Those are legal for felons, also.

I went to a CCW/weapons course (civilian taught/military provided) after the AF began allowing members to carry/store personal firearms in their POVs onto base. The Instuctor alleged that carrying a firearm on a federal highway the way we were required to carry/store onto base would be illegal. I failed to find any reference online, but he claimed CCW/open carry of a firearm was illegal by federal law upon a federal highway. Has anyone heard the same or can point to reference to the contrary?

    "horse hockeys".

no such law that I've ever seen.

I think, these people that "teach" these CC classes tell alot of scary stories to basically keep you from actually use the permit

couple of friends have CC permits and afraid to actually use for fear of being sued, jailed, ect.
